Laguna Woods is a small town that straddles both sides of a large body of water-the Pacific Ocean and Laguna Seca Racetrack. On one side of the track is a quiet residential community while on the other side is an exciting tourist area with several theme parks and casinos. Laguna Woods has been influential for centuries because it has been home to two of America's most famous racing tracks-the Los Angeles International Racetrack and Monterey Peninsula Racetrack. In addition to its racing history, Laguna Woods also contains some notable architecture including The O'Neill House which was built in 1907 by Irish immigrant Patrick O'Neill and his wife Nellie; and The Dana House which was built in 1932 by banker Edward Dana and his wife Alice. Today, much of what makes Laguna Woods so special has arisen from its location within walking distance of many popular attractions such as the Pismo Beach Aquarium, the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Pier 39 Park, The Grove at Lake Arrowhead (home to Hollywood's Walt Disney Concert Hall) and even Disneyland Resort! Additionally, there are several golf courses close by as well as a number of restaurants including Rangerview Cafe & Grill which overlooks the ocean; Locke's Garden - another favorite spot for tourists; and Donatellos Italian Restaurant which offers amazing views over both Laguna Seca Racetrack and the Pacific Ocean from its outdoor patio.

The service has grown to be one of the world's largest and most respected law enforcement organizations. The Coast Guard plays a critical role in keeping our coasts safe by providing maritime security, enforcing United States regulations, and providing humanitarian aid. The history of the Coast Guard gift tradition began with the establishment of the Auxiliary Service at sea. In 1912, Congress authorized gifts for individuals who served in the Auxiliary Service at sea. This program was known as "gift club" because each member received a set amount of money every month from their employers or owners (the "club members"). Beginning in 1916, gift clubs were established for members of both services afloat and ashore. These gift clubs continued until 1947 when it was replaced by the present day Coast Guard Gift Association (CGGA). CGGA is responsible for administering all aspects of gifting within the Coast Guard; from individual donations to large galas and receptions honoring officers and other dignitaries. Gifts may be made in any denomination including cash, checks, stamps, coins or jewelry. CGGA also administers programs that allow members to support their community through donation of time or goods such as arts and crafts projects or donated clothing items. In 1957, CGGA initiated a new tradition called "Gift Certificates." A Gift Certificate is an electronic document that allows donors to purchase items online without having to visit a physical store location. It is now our standard way to promote charitable giving within the Coast Guard!

Laguna Woods, California is a small community located in Kern County, California. The town was founded in 1876 by Captain George Hearst and his wife, Emma Goldman. In the early 1900s, the town grew to become a major center for citrus production in southern California. The popularity of oranges led to the construction of several mills and other commercial buildings in Laguna Woods. The population of Laguna Woods declined during the 1970s and 1980s due to changes in the local economy and population growth elsewhere. However, recent development has begun to revive interest in Laguna Woods and its history. Laguna Woods is located on a drivable road called "The Drive" that leads from downtown Los Angeles northward through agricultural areas to the Pacific Ocean. The name "Laguna Woods" likely comes from two Spanish words: lagunas (a pool) and woods (a place where trees grow). During Spanish colonization of southern California, this area was known as Rancho las Pulgas because it lie along a stretch of artillery range used by Spain's military forces. Captain George Hearst first came to Laguna Woods in 1876 looking for land on which he could build a mission colony for converts from Judaism or Christianity who had fled religious persecution back home. He found some suitable land but died before he could sell it off. His wife Emma took over his business ventures and began developing what would eventually become Laguna Woods into an important center for citrus production in southern California during the late 1800s and early 1900s. Because of its location at one end of Southern Californiasanges railway system, which linked many nearby cities with viticultural resources, Laguna Woods became known as "the Valley of Orange." By 1910, whenlagunta woods incorporated as a city under state statute, it boasted more than 200 businesses employing 4500 people including 150 agriculture enterprises ranging from packinghousesTo wineries producing Sauvignon Blanc wine; Limoncello liqueurs were also produced here extensively by various importers throughout Prohibition era until reinstated by Assembly Bill 3757 on July 1st 1938.... In 1912 Captain George Hearsts widow donated half her estate - including virtually all her physical holdings within present day boundaries of LAGUNA WOODS - comprising 640 acres extending northerly from modern day US 101 up past present day Cathedral City limits towards Mt Wilson National Monument thereby creating today's Park boundary line forming much easterly extension Of now Union City limits... she named this tract OF HER OWN SINCE SHE NEVER KNEW WHERE IT WAS LOCATED BEFORE SHE MET CAPTAIN GEORGE HEARST WHO MOVED HERE IN THE EARLY 1870S WHEN HE FIRST FOUNDLAND TO BUILD A MISSION COLONY FOR CONverts FROM JEWISH OR CHRISTIANITY WHO HAD BEEN REFUSED TO FACE RELIGIOUS PROSECUTION BACK HOME AT THEIR FAMILY'S ESTATE IN TOWARDS SAN FRANCISCO BECAUSE THERE WAS NO LANDSCAPE THAT WOULD ALLOW THEM TO LIVE IN AN OPEN AND FREE COUNTRY AGAINST EXCLUSIVE CONTROL BY THE RICH MEN OF AMERICA...This donation formed most notably today's Park Boundary Line that marks MUCH EASTERLY EXTENSION OF NOW UNION CITY LIMITS AS FAR NORTH AS MOUNT WILSON NATIONAL MONUMENT... Laguna Woods is a census-designated place (CDP) in Orange County, California, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. Laguna Woods began as a small settlement near the present day intersection of Laguna Boulevard and Interstate 5 in 1959. It was named for the lagoon that can be seen from its location. In 1984, Laguna Woods incorporated as a village and then as an unincorporated community. In 2000, it became a CDP after being annexed by Orange County.
