Tactical Coffee at Lake Elsinore has been a part of the community for over 50 years. Started by Bob Bower in 1951, the business has grown and now offers coffee to customers both inside and outside of its café. The coffee is roasted using whole bean beans sourced from around the world, as well as specialty blends that are created specifically for the restaurant. The café’s namesake was First Lieutenant John L. Karr, who served in World War II and later worked at PT Boatyard on Elsinore Creek. In 1949, he started buying land adjacent to PT Boatyard and began to build a coffee house on it – which would eventually become known as Tactical Coffee. Since its inception, Tactical Coffee has supported many local organizations including The Salvation Army, Red Cross Blood droveOperation drives (giving blood free to people in need), and Holy Apostles Catholic Church Annual Music Festival. It also provides support for numerous local causes throughout the year such as giving back to the community through food donations or hosting fundraisers for various charities. In recent years, Tactical Coffee has seen an increase in popularity due to their delicious coffee products and friendly atmosphere. In 1933, Governor Earl Warren announced that all federal aid would be stopped to state governments until they had increased relief programs by themselves. This made Lake Elsinore one of the most important places in California during the Great Depression because it was still able to offer opportunities for people who wanted them. When World War II started, many Americans decided that war was what they wanted to do instead of work. They didn't want anything to do with government assistance which was ending anyway because the war was going well for America. Most people who live around Lake Elsinore today don't remember how difficult it must have been during those tough times when so many people were struggling just to keep alive. But you can definitely tell that these days it's a very happy place full of families enjoying nature and each other's company while doing something that makes somebody's day!
