The United States Air Force has a long and storied history in Lake Forest, California. The first active USAF Base in the area was located here at Wright-Patterson AFB from 1947-1949, before being moved to Dayton, Ohio. From its inception until the present day, Lake Forest AFB has been one of the key military installations in Northern California and Arizona. These colleges are responsible for some of America's most cutting edge scientific endeavors as well as producing high quality engineers and scientists who contribute importantly to our security posture around the world. Lake Forest is a city located in Contra Costa County, California, United States. The population was 34,163 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Francisco Bay Area and is the fifth-largest city in that area after Berkeley, Oakland, San Jose, and Daly City. The city has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen: Cfa), with average monthly temperatures ranging from 22 °C to 36 °C. Annual precipitation ranges from 1155 mm to 2435 mm. Lake Forest began as an agricultural village on a small stream called Livermore Creek near present day Lake Forrest Avenue and Siskiyou Boulevard. In 1868, John Atherton purchased 640 acres (248 ha) of rolling farm land west of Livermore Falls for $100 per acre ($2 / ha). The first structures were built here in 1869 – an adobe cabin and two log homes. By 1870, Atherton had developed some sugar cane plantations around Livermore Falls which yielded about $4 per ton processed; this early production helped contribute to the rapid growth of the town during the late 19th century. In 1881, Atherton sold his remaining holdings in Livermore Falls to Carr & Company for $350/acre ($8 / ha). Carr soon founded what would become one of Northern California's most important lumber companies; he also donated many acres (acres) of land adjacent to today's downtown core for public use including athletic fields, a library wing and other civic amenities such as parks and gardens. Today Carr remains history significant through his donations - largely due to their impact on both local education within Lake Forest as well as later development efforts by developers throughout much of Northern California following World War II when jobs came available in large numbers thanks to American military engagement throughout Europe and Asia

He commissioned the first aerodynamic design competition for airplane design, hoping to find a new way to improve flying performance and protect our country from Nazi Germany. The resulting competition resulted in the development of the Boeing 707 airliner, which changed American aviation forever.
Lake Forest is a city in Northern California, United States. The population was 26,708 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Francisco Bay Area. The City of Lake Forest was founded on December 7, 1847 by Jameson Richardson and his wife Elizabeth Woolridge Richardson. The first post office in the city was established on January 1, 1850. The name "Lake Forest" was chosen because it resembled a forested area in England where both Jameson and his wife were from. In 1875, Lake Forest became an incorporated town after Richard Wirths (the founder of Wirth's bakery) donated land to the town for development into a park that would include a playground, school and churches. By 1888, the population had grown to over 100 people and incorporation was granted to the town by then-Mayor George Satherwood. On May 20th 1907 Mayor Satherwood dedicated what are now City Hall and City Park as part of what would become known as "The Golden Age of American Civic Life". In this time period civic life revolved around street fairs which attracted residents and visitors from all over Northern California; political meetings were also held here during this time to discuss issues important to Lake Forrest residents such as zoning changes or water rights with officials from other towns in the region
Lake Forest was founded in 1869 by Captain John C. Fremont and his family as a trading post on the western edge of present-day San Francisco Bay. The town site was chosen because it had a stream available for irrigation, and the surrounding hills were wooded and drained for agriculture. The first post office opened in 1870. In 1876, Lake Forest incorporated as a city. In 1905, the City Council decided to annex part of west Palo Alto (then named West Oakland) into Lake Forest to increase its population size and promote industrial development there. That annexation created a new city government with its own police force, fire department, waterworks department, library, and other public services. By 1920 all but 2 of Lake Forest's 23 streets had been paved with crushed limestone blocks that served as roadways; today only two are left unpaved. The city annexed more land over time until it reached its current boundaries in 1937; at that point it became an independent city again under the name of Lake Forest Hills. During World War II the city built up defenses against Japanese attack by creating an airfield on Coyote Hill which is now home to Diablo Valley College
