They were the first to roast their own coffee. In 1984, Larry Fenton opened his own roastery and grocery store on State Street in Lake Forest. Fresh roasted coffee continued to be sold from this store until 2001 when it closed due to financial difficulties. In 2006, Stefan Kollar opened his new roastery and cafe on Southend Avenue in Lake Forest. Fresh roasted coffee continued to be sold from this store until 2009 when it closed due to financial difficulties. In 2013, Byron Smith reopened his original roastery and cafe on North Ave in Lake Forest after a long closure. This store continues to sell fresh roasted coffee until present day. The history of fresh roasted coffee reveals that this drink has been enjoyed by many different people throughout the years for different reasons. In 1887, Joseph L. Alpher founded a small town named Lakeside after his wife's family name—a move that helped popularize farming around this part of Santa Clara County[5]. The community grew rapidly due to new transportation methods such as railroad construction which brought workers and industry closer to the townsfolk. Businesses started popping up all over Lakeside; one restaurant became famous for having lobster cooked directly onto their roof[6]. By 1912, there were 7000 residents living within walking distance of everything that mattered: schools (including Lakeside High School), churches (including St. John's Lutheran), grocery stores (including Sears & Roebuck), services (like doctoring and seed planting), mills (which produced flour for local bread making purposes), breweries (which made beer for local consumption)[7], banks (the first being built on Mayfair Street)[8], theaters (![9]),[10]), restaurants (/bars!), dance halls ([11])--and much more! A big reason why this town continued growing so vigorously during those years was because Alpher didn't just focus on agriculture; he developed some significant business ventures too! In 1916 he opened Menlo Park dry goods store #2 which became one of Northern Californias' most successful businesses[12]; three years later he opened another store at 950 Belmont Ave., now part of Macy's [13]. Not only did these stores bring much needed prosperity to Lakeside but they also gained national attention thanks to their clever marketing strategies – like sending employees down into New York City during World War I dressed like soldiers so customers would think they were buying military supplies actually! Eventually both stores closed except for Menlo Park until Alpher sold them both in 1958.[14] During those early days when lakesIDE had no internet or even electricity let alone phone service, citizens relied heavily on mail order catalogs from Sears & Roebuck delivered door-to-door! Today we can appreciate how innovative these entrepreneurs must have been back then – imagine if credit cards existed then too?!

Lake Forest, California is a small town located in the San Francisco Bay Area of Northern California. The original inhabitants of Lake Forest were the Ohlone people. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Lake Forest were Spanish missionaries. They founded a mission near present-day Holyoke Avenue and University Avenue in 1847. The town was organized as a village on December 12, 1850, by members of the Methodist Episcopal Church who settled around present-day First Street and Mission Road. The earliest post office was established at Seventh Street and Academy Avenue on November 30, 1851. In 1860, the United States Post Office moved from Oakland to nearby San Jose when that city became part of Sacramento County. In 1868, the townsite was acquired by Rancho San Pablo founder Manuel Nieto and his family for $3,000 cash. The rancho ran for about 60 years until it was sold to John Dennison in 1906 for $25,000 (). Upon its sale, Lake Forest became one of the largest land grants ever given out in California history (). It included over 920 acres (360 ha) including many valuable homes and mills along with infrastructure such as water systems and schools. With this large grant came pressure to develop the land so that it could be used for agriculture or other purposes instead of being viewed as an open landfill where property values plummeted after decades of neglect (). After much deliberation (), Dennison chose to build what is now known as downtown: a mix of modern architecture with historical features dating back to 1800s ranch houses which had been abandoned due to lack of use or maintenance (). Lake Forest is a city in Marin County, California, United States. The population was 43,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Francisco Bay Area. The first European to visit Lake Forest was Gaspar de Portolà on February 2, 1769, during his expedition over the Bay of Monterey. A small post office called "Lake Forest" was established in 1847 and remained in operation until 1906. In 1865, Samuel Morse and Alfred Vail built a rancho on what is now north side of town along San Rafael Street. The two men were friends and together founded Pacific Electric Railway which crossed from Marin County into Contra Costa County (then east of Sacramento) in 1867. In 1870 they sold the railway company to John Dutton who continued to operate it as Pacific Railroad Company before it merged with Southern Pacific Railroad in 1989. In 1899, John Dutton donated land that became downtown Lake Forest; this donation remains today one of the largest single donations ever made to an American city by a single individual. Dutton also donated money for building schools and parks throughout town; these days there are more than 20 schools and park units within walking distance of downtown Lake Forest. Today's downtown area has several blocks lined with large office buildings dating back to the early 1920s when local paper companies such as Hearst Corporation (now Hearst Corporation Tower) and Scripps Howard Newspapers were headquartered thereabouts – one block down from Oracle Arena where NBA games are played today! It wasn't until after World War II that many new housing developments began popping up all around town – including some still standing today like North Pointe Village on Lakeshore Drive west of Market Street near Highway 101 - but by then it had been named "Downtown Lake Forest."
