The Marine Reconnaissance Battalion is a unit of the United States Marine Corps that specializes in reconnaissance and surveillance. The battalion was activated on 3 November 1917 at Quantico, Virginia as Company D, 1st Battalion, 5th Marines. The battalion relocated to Camp Pendleton, California in 1951 and redesignated Company L. In 1955 the company was reorganized as a rifle company and redesignated as Company G. In 1959 the company was again reorganized as a rifle regiment and redesignated as Regiment M-1 (Marine Scout Infantry). On 15 February 1966, the regiment became an infantry regiment with Headquarters at Camp Pendleton and two battalions located at El Centro, California and Monterey Bay Naval Station. On 20 September 1986 the infantry regiment became an armored brigade within III Amphibious Force when it was redesignated I Armored Brigade Combat Team-2 (Airmobile). On 16 December 1990 Companies A & B were reassigned to Regimental Combat Team 2-3 which had been renamed Task Force White Sands following its deployment to Operation Desert Storm. From 8 January through 10 January 1991 they participated in Exercise Northern Watch which simulated an invasion of Kuwait by Iraqi forces using artillery fire from inside Kuwait City; this exercise also included participation by units of II Airborne Division which were then based out of Ramstein Air Base outside Germany. In 1992 companies C & D were reassigned to Regimental Combat Team 2-4 which had been renamed Task Force Red Flag after its deployment to Panama during the early stages of Operation Just Cause; from 11 May through 14 May 1992 they participated in Exercise Brilliant Spear which simulated a ground assault into Panama City from within clear sight of U.S.-friendly natives who resided there; this exercise also involved participation by units from III Marine Expeditionary Brigade headquartered ashore in San Pedro Sula Bay under Commander Major General Enrique “Tito” Canales who later served as Chief Executive Officer for Defense Matures Incorporated/Task Force Eagle

Lake Forest is a city in Orange County, California, United States. The population was 362 at the 2010 census. The incorporated town of Lake Forest was established in 1903 by incorporation of two villages, Westlake and Eastlake. In 1912, the towns of Deer Park and Buena Park were annexed into Lake Forest. The city was reincorporated on January 1, 1984. In 1824, Captain George Vancouver explored and mapped the area that would become Orange County. He named it "New Albion" after his home country New England. On July 4, 1825, Captain James Cook discovered land comprising what is now Orange County while sailing around Cape Horn. Cook's landfall caused panic among local Native Americans who thought he had landed on their territory! In 1826 Supervisor John Sutter acquired 640 acres (240 ha) east of present-day downtown Lake Forest from Aaron Burr for $5 per acre ($2/ha). The site chosen for what would later become Lake Forest was surveyed in 1795 by Josiah Willson as part of an effort to provide water supplies for settlers along the Santa Ana River valley which he claimed as part of his Rancho San Fernando de Santa Ana de Anza grant from Spain to Juan José Figueroa y Costilla on October 14, 1795. A millrace running north from Mission Creek led to the river where mills were built starting in 1800s to grind flour for goods sold throughout southeastern California such as chapatis (flatbreads) and pan masala (chicken curry). Part of this millrace still flows through downtown today under Montgomery Street Bridge near City Hall Annex Building before turning northeast under Trinity Avenue towards Anaheim Hills adjacent to Disneyland Resort property northwest of Montgomery Street Bridge just past Carlisle Elementary School on Anaheim Boulevard adjacent to Disneyland Railroad Station across Vinegar Hill Road from Sam's Club warehouse store located across Allain Brothers appliance dealership located across Trousdale Ave from Yucca Valley National Monument located between Reseda Blvd./Hollywood Hills and Crescent Heights shopping center
Lake Forest is a city in Contra Costa County, California, United States. The population was 30,511 as of the census[1] of 2010. It is the most populous city in Contra Costa County and the second largest city in Northern California after San Francisco. The first people to live in what is now Lake Forest were the Ohlone people who used to be present on or near the lake. In 1825, Rancho Rincon de la Paloma was granted by José Bárcenas to Antonio Maria Delgado for his share of a grant made by Governor Pío Pico. The town began to form from parts of other settlements including Petaluma and Novato with its incorporation on November 7, 1872 following a referendum.[2][3] In 1906, when Bay Bridge was completed, part of San Pablo Avenue became Lakeforest Boulevard which connected downtown Oakland with eastern Contra Costa County. The bridge opened on September 24th and quickly became one of North America's busiest reversible bridges; it remains so today! On October 15th 1911 voters in recall election approved annexation by Berkeley City Limits due to high housing costs within close limits then existing as well as new land being offered nearby for development including what is now Union Park/University Village (the site of UC Berkeley). After years of negotiation and public hearings both sides reached an agreement that would have allowed much larger numbers of people living close together with few amenities but still resulted in a majority vote against annexation despite appeals from some residents who felt they had been overcharged for their own homes. Ultimately this decision failed because no funds could be raised while still residing within City Limits- Berkeley proper- making annexation an impossibility without more money from outside sources
