The history of military deployed gifts in Lakewood, California can be traced back to the early days of the area when there were no military installations. In fact, it is likely that the first gift ever given to an individual in Lakewood was a small token of appreciation for their services within the militia. The earliest gift given to an army detachment stationed in Lakewood was a bag of ammunition. This gift may have been representative of the close relationship between the army and local militias which had existed since before World War I. In 1925, a group of soldiers from Tacoma, Washington organized themselves into a unit known as "The Tacoma Troops." Their mission was to provide security for visiting dignitaries and members of Congress who passed through town on their way to or from hearings held in Sacramento. These events were considered important enough that General Edwin Egan called on his troops to provide security for these dignitaries. It is interesting to note that this event took place one year after General Douglas MacArthur visitedLakewood and gave speeches at various businesses in downtown Lakewood. It wasn't until 1949 that we saw our first large-scale deployment by the United States military. At this time, we participated in Operation Neptune's Spear which led to North Korea's withdrawal from its alliance with China and their entry into World War II. This event served as a catalyst for American involvement in WW II and helped solidify our status as a world power. Although Operation Neptune's Spear did not lead directly to WWII, it did help contribute significantly theretofore unknown resources such as men and materials which would later be used duringWWII (see USS Missouri). From 1949-1953 we only deployd two shipments totaling 8 crates containing munitions - this was due largely to budgetary restrictions placed upon us by Congress following events such as Watergate (see Richard Nixon). Since then we've seen some pretty significant deployments albeit few actual packages arriving at our doorsteps! Our current largest deployment occurred during Operation Iraqi Freedom where 12 crates arrived at our doorstepcontaining over 400 items including helmets, body armor, night vision goggles, radios...the list goes on! There has also been recent deployments within Afghanistan (2011), Libya (2012), Yemen (2013) and Syria (2014). Each deployment has brought with it new opportunities for American innovation which we eagerly pursue; see Ramstein Air Base case study below!

The first time an army was deployed in Lakewood, California it was in 1898. The United States Army First battalion activated at Fort Bliss on October 14, 1898. It served as garrison duty until January 1902 when it moved to Camp Goodwin and later Camp Lee. On March 1, 1903 the battalion relieved the 9th Infantry Division at Camp Verde. On May 1, 1903 the battalion moved to Presidio of San Francisco where it remained until its withdrawal in 1907. It then relocated to Fort Sill on August 15, 1907 and served there until its disbandment on December 6, 1913. The battalion's last deployment was in 1916 when it transported troops from Sacramento to San Diego for World War I.
Lakewood is a small city located in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 26,935 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Bernardino– Riverside–Ontario Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city was founded in 1887 by John C. Fremont and James Sitton as a small agricultural town on the western edge of Kern County. In 1912, it became an incorporated municipality with a population of 25 people. Lakewood annexed portions of unincorporated areas of Kern County in 1916 and 1922. The annexation process has been used to increase its size by adding properties from other parts of the county that were not included in its original population growth because they were too far away for incorporation into the city limits or for development within the limits themselves. In 1938, Lakewood approved plans to build a new shopping mall called Westfield Shopping Center which would have anchored two large freeways near Interstate 5 and I-10 east of downtown Los Angeles. However, this plan was abandoned due to opposition from local businesses who felt that their land would be taken away and replaced with a high-density shopping mall without them being able to control how it was developed or use it for their own purposes. In October 1984, Mayor Tom Bradley announced plans to make Lakewood one of eight cities in Northern California chosen as sites for what would become known as The North Coast shale gas field project; however, this project failed to gain serious attention until after he resigned from office in connection with it in February 1985 and then fell victim to political corruption scandals during his term as mayor which ultimately led him out of office altogether In December 2001, voters accepted an ordinance change which increased the limit on how much alcohol may be sold inside city limits from 3 ounces (100 milliliters) per person up to 12 ounces (300 milliliters) per person per day; though this measure did not go into effect until January 2002 because City Council had refused to pass another ordinance limiting sales at liquor stores outside city limits pending review by state regulators . The ban on home brewing also went into effect following this vote . Prior to this change there had been homebrewing activity taking place primarily at private homes but now all beer must be purchased from local stores

Lakewood, California is a city in San Bernardino County, California. The population was 853 at the 2010 census. It is the easternmost incorporated municipality in San Bernardino County and it borders cities of Ontario and Riverside on the east, Temescal and Agoura Hills on the north, and Jurupa Valley on the west. The first people to live in what is now Lakewood were Ohlone Indians who arrived from southern California about 1250 AD. A mission was built here in 1821 by Father Francisco Sanchez and named Mission Dolores after St. Francis of Assisi which served as a center for Native Americans working off-reservation. In 1851 an act of Congress created Parkland Heights as part of Rancho Cucamonga; this area now includes most of downtown Lakewood with only a small portion remaining within Parkland Heights itself. In 1903, five men – Hiram Maxim, partners Samuel Morse and Alfred Vail – founded Western Electric Telephone Company with offices at 6th Avenue and Euclid Street in downtown Lakewood. They leased two blocks of land between Euclid Street and 6th Avenue from J P Morgan & Co.; soon afterward they moved into their new building which still stands (now called antennas). Lakewood's first post office opened in 1904; it was located at 600 S First Ave., across from where Western Electric's original buildings stand today. The company became one of America's leading telephone companies during its early years with franchises throughout North America including Canada (British Columbia), Mexico (Tijuana), Puerto Rico (Islas Canarias) as well as Argentina (Buenos Aires). In 1922 GE bought out Western Electric's share in the company for $2 million making it one giant telecommunications conglomerate that dominated American industry for nearly seventy years until its sale to AT&T in 1984! During World War II there was much activity surroundingLakewood due to military encampments set up around strategic locations like Fort Irwin near Interstate 10 and Naval Base Westchester close to shoreline on Corona Beach serving naval personnel stationed there during wartime construction projects such as USS Constitution Yards No 1-4(now Joint Base Ventura /Long Beach) . also many businesses got started during this time including Wernher von Braun’s Aircraft Plant #1 which produced rockets used by NASA In 1951 development began for what would become known as "The City", home to over 33000 people when finished it would be larger than Los Angeles combined! One hundred percenttimber frame homes had replaced adobe architecture throughout much of Southern California during this time so developers could build more high-end housing without having to worry about costs associated with traditional construction methods such as mortar Binding & masonry After years passed since completion planning resumed along with some refinements including adding an alleyway connecting 2nd Avenue/Euclid Street SW with 7th Ave./Metro Parkway SE creating a “backward intersection” becoming known locally simply as “the Loop”
