They started roasting coffee in their garage in 1915 and continued to do so until the early 1960s when they moved out of state. It was during this time that the business changed hands several times and most of the bean production stopped. In 1976, Donny Armstrong opened his own roastery and roast shop in Lancaster. He used only fresh roasted coffee from his farm near Lancaster and made small batches for himself and occasional gifts to friends and family.
