The Larkspur Army National Guard unit was organized on November 15, 1923, at the site of a former ammunition dump in Larkspur. The original mission of the unit was to provide security for local farmers during World War II. The unit served in this capacity until 1952 when it was transferred to the California National Guard. In 1957, the California National Guard and Larkspur Army National Guard merged to form one regiment. This change in name was due to concerns that two separate units would not be able to work together effectively in times of national emergency or military conflict. In 1972, the regiment changed its name again - this time to the currently named Larkspur Army NationalGuard Regiment - in honor of General Benjamin Harrison who had served as Commander-in-Chief of the United States Armies from 1889 until 1893. Today, there are over 1,000 members of our regiment including infantrymen and artillerymen who serve throughout California and Nevada. Our motto is "Militia non tollitur" which means "the militia does not kill." We continue to serve our community by providing essential services such as security for events such as parades and funerals as well as supporting law enforcement efforts statewide.

The Larkspur Army Scout Association was founded in 1916 by Capt. John D. Fenton, Jr., with the help of a few soldiers and their families. The association helps children in the city enjoy Scouting opportunities and makes it possible for them to grow up into good citizens.
Larkspur is a city in San Luis Obispo County, California, United States. The population was 13,898 at the 2010 census. Larkspur is located on the central coast of Central Coast Region and it straddles both the Santa Cruz Mountains to the north and the Pacific Ocean to the south. The original mission in this area was founded by Franciscans in 1797 as Mission San Francisco de Asís. A small settlement grew up around this mission until 1821 when it was moved to Rancho Rinconada on what is now Point Conception Peninsula. In 1849, part of Rancho Rinconada became part of Mexico while other parts passed into US hands following Mexican War (1846-48). The city's name comes from Spanish word "laranja", meaning "scarlet". In 1863, portions of Larkspur were annexed by Monterey County and named for its then-governor – Hiram Sutter – in recognition of his Donation Land Act efforts during that year. On July 4, 1876, Larkspur became an incorporated city with a population over 10,000 people when its own charter was granted by Governor Hennepin Pinchot. It remained an unincorporated community until 1959 when it became part of San Luis Obispo County as part of a change in county government effective January 1st that year. Larkspur's downtown business district contains two large shopping malls: JCPenney and Sears Corporation. Other major retailers include Macy's department store and Jamba Juice Chain restaurant; several smaller stores; and eleven private schools including Sutter Christian School which serves K-12 students from Larkspur proper as well as satellite campuses throughout Southern California

Larkspur is a town in Fresno County, California, United States. The population was 17,421 at the 2010 census. Larkspur is located on the eastern edge of Fresno County and shares borders with Chowchilla to the south and east, Visalia to the north and west, and Madera to the south. The small community of Larkspur was founded by European Americans in 1847 as a mission settlement for Indians called the Siskiyou tribe. In 1853–54, General John C. Fremont's army passed through Larkspur during its march across California from Sacramento to Yuba City; while there they camped near what is now downtown Larkspur. In 1861, prospectors discovered rich silver mines in nearby Butte Creek Valley; within a few years most of present-day Larkspur had been laid out. The post office was first established at Larkspur on October 24, 1861 (a name derived from Spanish "laranja" or "raspberry"). In 1868–69 an act of Congress authorized construction of San Francisco Bay Bridge over Mono Lake; this bridge became known as the San Francisco-Oakland Bridge because it crossed over Mono Lake on that route. The town site was chosen for its central location between those two cities due to its convenient transportation connections and access to resources such as water power for irrigation and manufacturing purposes. In 1907 a large fire destroyed much of downtown Los Angeles; although some parts of Larkspur survived flames that burned for days after starting in a warehouse northeast of town on November 8th that year, almost all buildings in downtown were destroyed or damaged beyond repair or reconstruction including both the old Mission Revival style courthouse which still stands today across from city hall - one of only three remaining public buildings from pre-war Los Angeles - as well as several Baptist churches which also survive intact today including Oneal Chapel (now part of Soquel). A new downtown was built primarily using donations by local merchants and citizens followingthe disaster plus many volunteer hours by firefighters who fought burning rubble throughout central Los Angeles On July 4th 1907 – Independence Day – city officials declaredLarkspur FIRE FREE! A day later Mayor Hahn installed electric lights in all business districtsfollowing similar policies instituted in other Californian cites during this time period
Larkspur is a small city located in San Bernardino County, California. It was founded on August 16, 1876 by citizens of Redlands and Agoura Hills as a railroad town to serve the growing population of spectral miners in the area. The first post office opened in Larkspur on October 15, 1876. The community quickly grew around its two main businesses: the Larkspur Crystal Company and the Larkspur Grain Mill. By 1907, Larkspur had a population of 2,500 people and it became an important transportation center for goods coming from the nearby mining district. In 1918, local voters passed a resolution calling for annexation by Riverside County; however, this proposal was never carried out. In 1951, Larkspur was renamed after General Douglas MacArthur to honor his service during World War II. The city's economic fortunes changed starting in the early 1990s when digital music became popular and new technology began to take hold of various industries; however, many aspects of the city's economy have continued to decline since then. Larkspur has experienced several natural disasters over the years: A series of earthquakes struck central California in 1960 which left at least six people dead and destroyed dozens of homes; a swarm of fireflies that affected parts of Southern California during Summertime 1998 caused extensive property damage; ISIL-linked militants attacked an army base just outside Larkspur on September 20th 2018 resulting in injuries to twenty soldiers before being killed by security forces; and hurricanes Harvey (September 25th - 30th) & Irma (October 5th - 10th) made landfall near or within striking range of Los Angeles & Orange County respectively on September 13th & 17th 2018 causing catastrophic flooding across much coastal Californian mediaeval towns including Larkspur
