The Larkspur Navy Depot located in the city of Larkspur, California has been active for over 60 years. The depot was founded on December 4th, 1942 by the United States Navy and is now known as Naval Air Station Larkspur. It is one of the most important naval air stations in the Western Hemisphere and houses a variety of aircraft and helicopters used by both the Navy and Marines. Larkspur is a city in San Bernardino County, California, United States. The population was 7,371 at the 2010 census. Larkspur is located on the banks of the San Gabriel River and is part of the Riverside metropolitan area. The first Europeans to visit what is now Larkspur were Spanish traders in 1769. They named it Encino de la Ribera, meaning "the crossing of the river". In 1821, José Gomez y Costilla founded a mission here called El Pinon del Rio Grande after his Rancho Paso de las Animas (Rancho Los Angeles) served as a base for missions in that area. The city was incorporated on February 15, 1892. In 1916 an American military airbase was built near Larkspur during World War I as Camp Edwards Air Field; it became known as RAF Larkspur on November 1, 1918 when RFC Station No. 2 opened there under control of USAAF Ninth Air Force. RAF Larkspur changed hands several times between RAF and USAF ownership before its closure at end of World War II on October 15, 1945; it has been unused ever since. Larkspur experienced significant growth following its incorporation into the City of San Bernardino by Proposition 10 in 1986; today's downtown business district reflects this growth with two blocks east of Mission Boulevard comprising much recent commercial development dating back to that time including: First Baptist Church (founded in 1886), Townsquare Media Center (1999), and HP Pavilion Theatre (2006). A new elementary school and middle school have also been built since then along with a number of other public structures downtown including: City Hall Annex Building which houses Fire Department Administration and operations headquarters/Emergency services barracks overlooking Mission Boulevard and Cory Avenue; old post office building which housed parks department until 1978 when they moved into their own building next door - now home to several restaurants including Pizzeria Metro situating right across from City Hall Annex Building - annexed by City Council chambers housing the Mayor’s Office & staff functions; now home to Student Union buildings housing both high school students & adult residents studying or working at UC Riverside campus adjacent to north side Of Mission Boulevard just beyond Qualcomm Stadium parking lot

Larkspur is a small town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 1,554 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Salinas–Bakersfield metropolitan area. The Town of Larkspur was founded on August 20, 1858 by George Patton and his brother-in-law J.D. Nichols as a result of the Gold Rush in California. A post office named Larkspur was opened in 1859, and remained in operation until 1907. The first settler Captain John Clements built a cabin on what is now Main Street in 1859. In 1861 Governor Prentice Mudd designated Larkspur as the county seat for Kern County because of its strategic location between San Francisco and Los Angeles on the Central Coast of California. In 1886, a group of businessmen led by Elisha Semon bought 3/8 mile (1 km) east of present day Larkspur from Captain Clements for $3 per acre (0·80 ha). They renamed their property "Lark'sPyramid" after their new home which they had erected within a year or so near modern day downtown Salinas on Rancho La Brea Avenue. By 1890, Lark'sPyramid had become one of the most successful agricultural estates in southern California due to its carefully managed irrigation systems and large acres under cultivation for grapes, apples, almonds, cottonseed oil production and other crops including many Roses; it also boasted one of the largest private swimming pools west of Sacramento." A number of early settlers were Quakers who wanted their community to be spiritually consecrated ground where members could come together to read religious texts before worshiping God or meeting with others about spiritual affairs; these people traveled into nearby towns such as Visalia to attend services being offered at various churches there before returning home for dinner afterwards at their own home or farmsteads called “’Masonic lodges” – an idea that may have arisen from similar groups that met regularly at Squaw Valley during earlier times." Eventually some Protestants came to live among them but it never became completely self-sufficient until after World War II when local farmers began exporting products back to Southern California using Interstate 5 bypassing Lark'sPyramid altogether beginning what has been called "the Golden Age"of agriculture here."
