Lathrop is a small town in the San Joaquin Valley of California, United States. It is located on the east side of the Sacramento River, about 25 miles (40 km) north of Fresno and 50 miles (80 km) south of Stockton. The population was 3,523 at the 2010 census. The town was first settled in 1849 by John Lathrop and his wife Elizabeth Woolridge, who named it after their home in England. Lathrop had been a surveyor in California before coming to the area in 1845 to explore potential land for colonization. He found good land but also encountered fierce resistance from Native Americans who claimed ownership of much of what would become Lathrop. After several years of litigation, the United States Supreme Court ruled that there was no title to any lands within present-day Lathrop because it had been acquired through purchase or voluntary exchange by Mexican citizens living near and around Yreka during Rancho Alta's time as part of California's Mexican Empire. In 1851, Lathrop sold his share in Rancho Alta to George Henshaw for $5,000 cash and moved back to England where he began developing what would become Lathrop into a small farming community. In 1865, when American Civil War broke out, many men from nearby Stockton volunteered to serve in Union army units; some decided to stay behind and start families while others returned home. Men like John Atherton established themselves as local farmers with their own stores and businesses; these men were instrumental in helping grow Lathrop into one of the most successful small towns in California during its early years. By 1880, over 80% of the residents were women with more than half being self-employed owners or operators of their own businesses. There were also numerous churches and schools throughout those years which helped contribute significantly to community development along with many social activities including dances and picnics which helped maintain close ties between locals and visitors alike! Today’s resurgent economy has led to an increase in business activity as well as property values throughout much of downtown; however not all aspects have grown rapidly: portions have seen declines due mostlyto severe drought conditions which have struck this region multiple times over the past few decades – making it difficult for businesses owner/operators to keep up with increased rent costs necessitated by increasingly scarce resources available on a consistent basis! Despite these challenges though –LATHROP continues strong everyday despite some Graveyard Shift work nights!

Lathrop, California is a small town located in northwestern Kern County, California. The population was 2,619 at the 2010 census. Lathrop was founded in 1887 by George Lathrop and his wife Emma as a bedroom community for miners and their families living near the Central Valley goldfields. In 1918, Lathrop incorporated as a village with a total population of 399. The post office served the village until it closed in 1951. Today, only an old schoolhouse remains standing in Lathrop, used as offices by the local government since 1978. George Lathrop established himself as a rancher and real estate developer in the area around Lathrop during the early 1880s. By 1887 he had purchased 6 miles of Rancho Diablo from Juan Bautista Alvarado and erected two adobe buildings there which became known as "The Rancho". Over time, additional land was acquired including some that now form part of downtown Los Angeles. In 1918, George and Emma Lathrop incorporation their new Village of Lathrop into Kern County after years of lobbying by various citizens groups who saw potential for growth within the limits granted to them by county officials. Today's Village of Lathrop consists of just over one-half mile (1 km) north-northwest of its original site on what is now Hwy 231 between downtown Los Angeles and Springdale; east-northeast of present day Enterprise; south-southwest of present day Menifee; west-northwest of present day Alpine; four blocks northeast (and almost due south)ofpresentdayLangley Park; six blocks northwest (and almost due east)ofpresentday Simi Valley The original site contained only about 350 residents but over time multiple annexations followed with current populations reaching 2,000+ residents today thanks to annexation requests from portions or all nearby municipalities including Downtown Los Angeles/North Hollywood/Burbank/Encino Junction/Simi Valley etc.. With continued growth throughout recent decades annexed properties have totaled an additional 12 square miles with currently over 4 thousand residents situated within those boundaries making it one of largest urban agglomerations in Southern California ..... In 1951 when ZIP Code 82310 reverted back to its pre-recession values (it had been 91701 prior to that), most everyone who still lived inside city limits left behind - save maybe 3 or 4 stubborn souls who refused evacuation orders ....... even though they would live under military protection while everything outside clustered together like rats in a sinking boat ......
