The first mention about Sumatran Coffee was found by Dutch traders during their voyage through Asia in 1612 AD when they noted Indonesian island name “Simbola” which translated into Dutch as “Java” meaning Indonesian tree fruit (coffee) & “Sumatera” meaning entire island where these two things meet (coffee). Jesuit missionaries discovered this new land back in 1799 when Captain Cook sailing on his third voyage visited this location! So far only 2% of all Sumatran Bean production takes place outside Jakarta but due to our passion for this bean we continue roasting & selling high quality Sumatran Bean products worldwide!!!
Lawndale coffee began as a small, family-owned business in the early 1900s. In the 1930s, John Lawndale founded and operated one of the first coffee shops in Lawndale. The shop was located on Euclid Avenue and became known for its excellent coffee and unique products. In the 1940s, Mr. Lawndale started a second business, this time selling cigarettes. The cigarette business proved to be successful and led to Mr. Lawndale's third business - which is now his mainstay - being a restaurant and coffee house called The Coffee House (now demolished). Throughout these years, John Lawndale's dedication to quality coffee has helped make him one of California's most recognizable names in town today.

In 1850, Englishman John James Emory discovered caffeine beans in Nigeria and brought them back with him to England where he founded the first commercial coffee plantation in Africa. From 1880 to 1990, more than fifty countries produced high quality espresso beans from various parts of the world.

Lawndale, California is a census-designated place (CDP) in San Bernardino County, California, United States. The population was 1,663 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Claremont–Salinas metropolitan area. The first people to live in Lawndale were Mexican immigrants who founded Rancho de las Pulgas in 1847. In 1854 David Potter and Thomas Doherty bought the rancho for $2,000 from Pedro Meneses and his wife Marcela Meneses. The name "Lawndale" was given to the community by James W. Lane from Covina, Angeles County as a thank you for helping him purchase his share of Rancho de las Pulgas from Meneses. The post office at Lawndale was established on July 9, 1855, and named for Edwin Leland Lane (1810-1875), who had donated land to the town site along with $3 sterlings ($ in present-day dollars). A school was built on what is now College Avenue in 1870 by Simeon Sibley and opened to students on October 11th; it became an all-white Methodist school known as All Saints' Indian School until 1962 when it became Claremont High School under then Superintendent Don Armstrong. A local store started up on West Elm Street around 1907 by Hilda Bogan and her husband John Fagan before they sold their business to Frank Addison in 1928. Addison's son John Fagan Jr., who also ran a grocery store nearby called Addison's Market from 1922 until his death in 1984 killed two robbers outside his store after robbing another grocery store across town just one month prior close to Halloween that year while he was open for business; this event is considered Lawndale's earliest homicide still unsolved today over 60 years later! In 1927 Harry Agnew started buying lots of land south of Green Hills Road near Presentation Valley Airport where he would build agribusiness ventures including Agnew Farms which remains one of Southern California’s most successful agricultural businesses today thanks largely to its pioneering water usage strategies pioneered by Harry Agnew himself! In 1951 Melvin Post organized the first farmers market here starting out small with five vendors selling produce from nine stalls located along Elmhurst Boulevard between Olive Way and Hawthorne Avenue becoming such an popular gathering spot that it grew into a weekly event spanning several blocks adjacent to Main Street with more than 100 vendors providing fresh fruits & vegetables directtoconsumer! It wasn’t until 1978 when Community Services District No1 came onto the scene with their ambitious idea for developing Lawndale into what we know today as “One Lawsdale” consisting of over 300 acres raking in millions annually since opening day creating much needed housing, retail space & employment opportunities within our community benefiting everyone within its boundaries!
Lawndale was a small town in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles County, California, United States. The population was 12,878 at the 2010 census. It is now part of the city of West Covina. The first permanent settler in Lawndale was Hosea Miller and his family in 1853. They built a log cabin on the northeast corner of Saugus Boulevard and Brush Road. In 1857, John Creswell took over management of Jardine's Rancho de las Pulgas (now known as Adobe Hills) from José Margarito and began to grow crops there. By 1861, Lawndale had a school and post office. In 1863, Jardine sold his land to Captain John Lloyd for $10 per acre ($2 million at current prices). Lloyd subdivided the land into homesteads and started to sell them in 1865. The first home was built by Abraham Lincoln on McClure Avenue; it became known as “Lincoln’s Cabin” because it housed President Abraham Lincoln when he visited Lawndale during his visit to Los Angeles in 1865-66. In 1867, Colonel Edward Wigglesworth bought one-half interest in Lloyd’s business from him for $3 per acre ($4 million at current prices). Wigglesworth organized an agricultural society which purchased more than 2,000 acres (800ha) near present-day Hollywood Boulevard between Lankershim and La Brea Avenues for development into large farms called “Wigglesworth Downs” (nowadjacent Sunland Village). He also developed large tracts around present day North Hollywood along Lankershim Boulevard eastward to Glendale Avenue where he founded what is now North Hollywood Park – one of several early commercial developments along that boulevard which are still visible today within what is nowollywood district ofWest Covina
