Tactical Coffee was a coffee company that operated in Lawndale, California from the early 1970s until the late 1990s. The company was founded by two brothers, Rick and Dave Dworkin. Tactical Coffee is best known for its unique blends of coffee, which it sells under the name "TACO BELL." The first Tactical Coffee shop opened in 1971 in a small building on Mission Boulevard in Lawndale. The business grew quickly and by 1976 had opened a second store on Pico Boulevard in downtown LA. In 1978, Tactical Coffee became an official subsidiary of Joe's Cafeteria Inc., one of LA's largest restaurant chains. In 1984, Rick and Dave Dworkin sold their majority share of Tactical Coffee to their brother-in-law Bob Schieffer. At this point, TACO BELL became trademarked by Bob Schieffer himself and continued to be produced under his own name until 2000. In 1998, Bob Schieffer passed away and his son John Schieffer took over as CEO of Tactical Coffee. John Schieffer retired from his role as CEO effective January 1st, 2003 after 36 years at the helm ofTactical Coffee Corporation. Throughout 2003-2006, Dan Lepkowski served as interim CEO while JohnSchieffer recovers from surgery related to cancerous growth on his brain stem (the event led to him being forced into retirement). On October 15th 2006 Dan Lepkowski announced that he would be leaving the company effective November 1st 2006 due to health reasons; succeeded by his Senior Vice President/General Manager Jim Ryan who began working at Tactical Coffees immediately upon taking over leadership responsibilities On December 17th 2006 Chris Vandemare was named President & General Manager replacing Dan Lepkowski

In 1870, John Sutter founded Sutter's Fort which stood on present day Bancroft Way between Ventura Boulevard and Highland Avenue in what is now downtown Lawndale In 1886 he subdivided his holdings into blocks called Square Yards (now bounded by Westwood Boulevard, North Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street) which provided him with lumber for his new hotel-cabinetmaking factory - now known as Sutter Hall - but also opened up much of Lawndale to settlement with small farms dating back to pre-1850 times when large tracts were unclaimed by family members or others because they were too large or difficult to map out or claim property under English law including parts of today's Boyle Heights and Watts neighborhoods In 1906 there was an act passed by Congress authorizing Mayor Hahn to sell all public lands within three miles of City limits within 12 months after ratification thereby creating a major commercial center nearsby including Agua Dulce Lake where Hearst's Mansion now stands

Lawndale was founded in 1887 by George Lawndale and his wife, Jane. The town was named after the law firm of Lawndale, Flint and Macdonald. The first store in Lawndale was opened on May 24, 1887. The town grew rapidly and by 1907 it had a population of over 1,500 residents. By 1916 Lawndale had become an incorporated city with a population of over 10,000 people. The early years of Lawndale were marked by struggles between the town's rich and poor. This led to the founding of the first school in the town which taught grades K-8. In 1901, Mayor John Waddell donated land to build an arena for the local soccer team which soon became known as "the Warriors." In 1912, Mayor Waddell also donation land to create what is now known as Elm Street Park in honor of his late father who had played baseball at Elmhurst College. In 1925, while still an unincorporated community, Lawndale established its own police department which remains operational to this day. In 1957, when Valley Cities merged into larger cities such as Los Angeles County and San Bernardino County, Lawndale became one of their many constituent villages within Valley Cities boundaries. Today there are no active businesses or residents living in LAWNDALE (although there are hundreds if not thousands of visitors who come through its doors each year). However some aspects that remain strong including its vibrant culture and history have continued unabated such as its annual Oktoberfest celebration which is considered one of Northern California's most popular events
