The California Air National Guard's Lemon Grove Wing offers an extensive gift history that dates back to World War II. The wing was created in 1942 as the 114th Fighter Group, and during the war it became famous for its work in the Pacific Theater flying Boeing P-38s and Lockheed P-39s. In 1946, the group was reorganized into the 113th Fighter Wing and continued to fly Boeing P-47s and Lockheed P-38s until 1949 when it was redesignated as the 111th Fighter Wing. The wing served in Korea from 1951 to 1953 before being reassigned to Japan in 1954. It returned to United States soil in 1955 and reformed as the 11th Air Force on July 1, 1955. Since its inception, the Lemon Grove Wing has offered a wide range of gifts including aircraft engines, missiles, insignias, clothing, tools and equipment, textbooks and other educational materials. In addition to its traditional gifts given out at military functions such as anniversary events or major exercises,the wing also distributes holiday gifts throughout calendar year.
Lemon Grove, California is a city in Orange County, California. The population was 921 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Francisco Bay Area. Lemon Grove was founded in 1884 by J.D. Payne and Wm. Harkins as a citrus fruit packing and packing house on the outskirts of Orinda. The town's name comes from its location on two lemon trees located near the junction of State Route 26 and National Boulevard. The first lemon tree to be planted in Lemon Grove was in 1886 by William Harkins, who also gave rise to the present-day grocery store and post office that are now within walking distance of each other. In 1902, Payne developed land east of town for housing development which became known as "Pinecrest". With rapid growth over ensuing decades, many businesses were built throughout downtown Lemon Grove including several banks (First National Bank, Empire State Bank) and hospitals (Orange Coast Memorial Hospital). In recent years, Lemon Grove has seen an influx of young professionals moving into its vibrant downtown area – notably with Bernie Sanders' 2016 presidential campaign headquarters being situated there – while also experiencing continued growth via annexation by neighboring neighborhoods such as Willow Glen and East Palo Alto

The act gave the USAF authority to conduct “air operations” against any nation that did not comply with its treaty obligations. Air operations became a central part of USAF policy andosight during the Cold War era until 1949 when Ulysses S Grant Park was dedicated in Arlington Heights, Illinois as USAF Base Midway. Lemon Grove is a small town in San Bernardino County, California, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Victorville metropolitan area. The first settlement in Lemon Grove was established by Juan Bautista de Anza on January 16, 1769 as Rancho San Bernardino de las Pulgas (now part of Victorville). The name may be derived from the lemon tree that grew plentifully there. A post office called Lemon Grove was established in 1872, and remained in operation until 1913. The town's first store was built in 1885 by J.C. Lancaster and Fenton Hutton. Other stores followed over the years: Wm Cundiff & Sons in 1898; A Gable grocery store opened in 1909; and Harry Jaffe's Stores Incorporated opened its doors on November 10, 1914. Lemon Grove experienced significant growth during World War II when businesses like USS Hornet's Repair Shop were utilized to supply weapons for the war effort. In 1945, local resident Robert Norgen created what would become known as "Norgen's Garden" which contained more than sixty garden plants from around the world including several rare ones such as jonquil andshowy nightshade plants grown only for Norgen himself! It wasn't until after his death that this paradise for flora came under control ofthe City of Victorville who maintain it today through city services and donations from locals and visitors alike! The LEMON GROVE Historical Society has been working to document Lemon Grove’s rich history since 1978 when their efforts resulted in creating a plaque dedicated to Mrs Florence Goodspeed celebrating her centennial year with a parade down Main Street! They also have an exhibit open every day at 6pm on Clubhouse Drive about life before WWII with exhibits like military rationing and food stamps!!!
