The Lemon Grove Army Garrison was established in 1881 and served as the home of the California Infantry Regiment until 1865. The Garrison was located on a small piece of land at the junction of Lemon Creek and missions Road. The Garrison surrendered to Mexico on February 14, 1846, after a three-month siege.
Lemon Grove, California is a small town in Orange County, California. The population was 3,709 at the 2000 census. It is located on the Pacific Coast Highway between Seal Beach and Yorba Linda. The first people to settle in Lemon Grove were the Mendocino tribe of Native Americans who had been living there for centuries before that. In 1853, William Kendall bought land in Lemon Grove from the Mendocino tribe and began to build a house on it which he named "Kendall's Cabin." He also started to grow oranges and other fruits in his orchard. In 1864, John Cranch discovered oil shale near Lemon Grove and began drilling for oil there. This led to a period of economic growth for the town as businesses sprang up all around him: lemonade stand, grocery store, bakery, post office etc. By 1925 there were over 20 businesses in Lemon Grove! During World War II (1939-1945), Lemon Grove took part in many campaigns including those against Japanese aggression such as providing food and ammunition to local military units. Some of the famous residents of this time include Captain Arnie Freeman who served with distinction aboard USS "Halsey" during WWII; Dr. Geraldine Bourke who worked at Children's Hospital Los Angeles and later became an international medical doctor; Mrs. Jane Addams who founded Hull House; Edwin Epps who was Director of Central Intelligence during most of the Cold War era; Mayor John Kappner; Supervisor Bob Wisely (a Democrat) – all of whom are now deceased except Kappner – and businessman Harry Chandler III…the only one currently living being Mayor Pete Bradford (R). Banks: First National Bank, Trust Company National (now Bankers Trust Co.) Today’s economy is driven by several sectors: health care services such as hospitals and clinics along with government contracting through agencies such as law enforcement and firefighting; technology companies that provide both online sales services as well as retail stores throughout Southern California; tourism which has become an important factor due to its longstanding relationship with nearby San Francisco Bay Area since both cities are co-founded by early Chinese immigrants

Lemon Grove is a small town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 1,752 at the 2010 census. It is the agricultural community of the same name located about 20 miles north-northwest of Bakersfield and 30 miles south-southwest of Stockton. The first people to live in Lemon Grove were Mission San Gabriel Arcángel and their followers who arrived on horseback from Alta California in 1817. They named their new settlement after a lemon tree that they found near their rancho (ranch). In 1868, two citrus farmers from Redding founded the townsite of Lemon Grove east of present day Bakersfield. The two men had been driving migrant workers to work on their $5 per day citrus farm when they spotted an orange orchard and decided to establish themselves there. In 1902, Disciples of Christ pastor Wm E Colfax donated land to build a boys' high school which served as an important center for socializing for young men in southern Kern County during the early days of World War I. Construction began on what is now called Colfax High School in 1903 and it opened its doors on November 15, 1903. The school quickly became known as one of the most popular public schools in Kern County due to its excellent faculty and curriculum as well as its location close to major businesses and services. Lemon Grove experienced another period of growth during World War II with many local families enlisting in service; therefore, there were more schools built for military children throughout Southern California than ever before; including Lemon Grove itself which boasted 5 buildings dedicated specifically to military education by 1943! After the war ended however, much like other postwar communities such as Huntington Beach or Fullerton, Orange County's economy crashed harder than nearby Kern County because so many soldiers had left town once hostilities stopped! As a result, much less money was available for infrastructure projects such as roads or schools which slowed down not only economic development but also citizen access to essential services like health care and grocery stores over time; leading eventually to some residents moving away while others simply abandoned their homes altogether due to low income combined with lackadaisical attitudes towards community renewal efforts by successive leaderships over time culminating with today's issues within Lemon Grove itself
