Lemon Grove is a small town in San Mateo County, California. It was founded in 1868 by James H. Lemon and his wife Clara. The town was named after the lemon tree that grew on the Lemon property. In 1915, Lemon Grove became an incorporated city and has since grown to over 20,000 residents. The first coffee house in Lemon Grove was called the White Horse Coffee House and Grill which opened in 1967. The first coffee beans were roasted at this house by Donny Nolen and Larry Wolkowitz. The White Horse Coffee House closed its doors in 1978 but it is still remembered for its delicious coffee drinks. In 1984, Tomahawk Coffee opened up shop here in Lemon Grove and quickly became known as one of the best coffee shops around. Tomahawk Coffee has been selling their delicious cup of java ever since! “We try to provide our customers with high quality bean-to-cup products without sacrificing convenience or value” says Manager Jim Slattery about Tomahawk Coffee's unique approach to customer service. Located right off Highway 1 close to Interstate 80, Starbucks came into town circa 1990s when local resident John Sasso decided to open up a small cafe/breakfast place next door to his home while he continued working as a truck driver out of his home. Starbuck's began as a single purchase between John Sasso and co-worker Dave Mulligan – no advance notice necessary – so they could start fresh each morning with minimal waste (which I think speaks volumes about Starbucks)! No sooner had we set up than locals started arriving by bus or car just for the caffeine rush! We've now been here for more than 25 years (!), making us some pretty tough competitors (we know!), but we love every minute of it!

Lemon Grove, California is a small town located in the Central Valley of California. The population was 1,653 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fresno metropolitan area. The first people to live in Lemon Grove were Native Americans who lived near the mouth of the Sacramento River. In 1851, they built a log cabin on what is now called Sixth Street. By 1870, they had moved to their present location and built a stone house on Tenth Street. They changed their name to Lemon Grove in 1871 because it was easy to remember from various Indian settlements nearby that used that name. In 1892, one of America’s original railroadroads, the Central Pacific Railroad, came through Lemon Grove and began building tracks here. The town quickly became an important transportation center for farmers transporting goods up and down the valley. Over time, local businesses grew into large companies like Eastern Leather Co., Alcoa (later Alcoa Aluminum), and Southern Pacific Railroad Company which still operates today as Southern California Edison company services its customers here today! Lemon Grove has been home to many famous people over its history including steelworker Harry Bridges who Rolling Thunder helped free from prison in 1969; singer-songwriter Willie Dixon whose hit song “Dancing On My Own” was recorded here; actor/comedian Garry Shandling who filmed his pilot episode of Lucha Libre Here; pitcher Dwight Gooden (of Braves fame) who attended college at nearby UC Davis and pitched for our University’s baseball team during his early days as a professional player; actress Shelley Winters who worked on Paramount Pictures films here; singer-songwriter Tom Petty and his wife Joan Baez both spent time living here while performing together HERE before moving back east when their son was born HERE! As America went through some tough times during World War II there were several shortages of materials related to war production such as aluminum foundries being closed due to wartime restrictions on exports however despite this Lemon Grove continued business as usual with key members of its community coming out to help run things! After World War II ended+, most residents left for various reasons but some stayed behind including Mayor Denny also maintaining close ties with Fresno County government until he passed away in 1984 after more than 50 years in office!
