The National Guard was created on September 25, 1947 by the United States Congress in order to provide a national defense. The first elements of the National Guard were organized into units on October 1st. The Guardsmen of California were among the first to be mobilized and assigned to active duty. They served for many years without pay, but with the passage of time their service has grown more pensionable and they are now considered veterans of our country’s military efforts. Since its inception, the National Guard has played an important role in our society and economy. It provides security during times of peace or emergency, supports local governments in their roles as guardians of public safety, and participates in various civic events and initiatives. In Lemon Grove, there have been many occasions when members of the National Guard have made a significant contribution to our community. Some examples include: erecting a new courthouse addition; providing security at local fairs; guarding major intersections during rush hour; working together with law enforcement to reduce crime; playing an integral role in creating jobs throughout our region; and more!

One of the purposes of the National Guard is to provide emergency services to local governments and protect public safety. The most Common Service Component of the Guards are Reserve units which drill and train with their respective state and local police forces as well as other first responders on various issues such as homeland protection, counterdrugs, disaster relief, forestry/wildland fire suppression, search and rescue missions, ceremonial occasions such as President's inaugurations or Super Bowl games etcetera. In 2002 there were over 66 million active duty members in the military forces including both Regular Army soldiers and Marine Corps Marines Deployed worldwide on Operation Enduring Freedom-Operation Iraqi Freedom-and more than 26 million civilian veterans who have served in the guard since World War II

Lemon Grove, California is a small town located in Orange County, California. The population was 7,531 at the 2010 census. It is the largest community in Orange County by area and the second-largest by population after Newport Beach. Lemon Grove has a long history dating back to 1876 when citrus trees were being planted here as part of a citrus experiment led by Professor James Fenton. Today, Lemon Grove remains an agricultural center with many fruit orchards and vegetable gardens. There are also several small businesses in Lemon Grove that provide local jobs for its citizens. The centerpiece of Lemon Grove's economy is its large community college, which offers over 100 undergraduate degrees and graduate programs across a variety of fields. In addition to its main campus in northeast Lemon Grove, other campuses include two technical schools and one business school.

The history of this organization goes back to 1792, when George Washington ordered the creation of a national guard as a way of providing security for the country during its time of transition. The first national guard regiment was created in 1795 and was made up of men from New York City. The first unit to be stationed in Philadelphia was activated in 1802. In 1903, President Theodore Roosevelt established the Advisory Board on Military Affairs to provide advice on military issues for Congress. This board included representatives from both the military and civilian sectors. Between 1907 and 1912, there were over 1,000 units activated by the National Guard with an aim to help ensure public order and defense during times of crisis. Many governors throughout America offered their services to the National Guard, which led to what is now known as “The Golden Age” of the National Guard. In 1933, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed into law Public Law 638 which provided for a permanent army reserve component within the National Guard that would allow citizens across America access to these resources at any time should they become necessary. This law also authorized states and local jurisdictions to establish their own militia regions which could act as an emergency response if called upon by federal authorities or state governments unable or unwilling to respond effectively thereto. States began activating their militia forces more frequently but it was not until after World War II that full-time air Defense Command (NORAD) operations became possible due largely to funding provided by Congress through amended appropriations Acts following World War II including $2 billion allocated specifically for this purpose in 1949 alone! Today, there are over 100 million active duty members serving our nation through all forms of military service including Army Reserve Forces (ARF), Air Force Reserve contingents (AFCRES), Marines Corps Reserve Components (MCRCPs), Coast Guardsman/Wavesmen/Petersons Beach Patrols (PCGVPs) etc., making it one of America’s most ceremonial organizations!

Lemon Grove is a small town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 909 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Bakersfield metropolitan area. The first settlers in Lemon Grove were James and Rebecca Irvine who arrived on October 14, 1847 from San Francisco. They laid out a town site on high ground northeast of present day Lemon Grove along the then-new Central Pacific Railroad. They named their new community after lemon tree ( Citrullus lanatus). In 1850 they sold their land to John C. Frémont for $1,000 cash. A post office called Lemon Grove was established in 1852, and remained in operation until it discontinued operations in 1907. In 1858 the US Postal Service established an outpost at what is now Lemont Avenue and Happy Valley Road within the town limits; this postal station served as the center of local mail distribution until it closed in 1911. Lemon Grove incorporated as a city on March 15, 1912 (). The first Mayor was Hosea Wrigley with second term starting on April 1st 1912 thru May 5th 1913 due to death of Mayor James Irvine prior to that date. On September 12th 1915 World War I veteran Major General Edwin Saunderson took up arms against Germany at Peralta Ridge near Lemon Grove and died there from wounds received during battle just days before America's entry into World War I . His remains are interred at Spring Hill Cemetery located about 8 miles east of town off Interstate 10 near Bakersfield
