Lemon Grove, California is a small town located in Orange County, California. The population was 2,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Santa Ana metropolitan area. The name "Lemon Grove" comes from two different stories: one about a lemon tree that grew wild and became an orchard, and another about two lemon trees in a field that were so large they stopped changing color. The first story may be more likely because it has a happier ending. The first settlers in Lemon Grove were John and Jane Lewis who arrived on horseback in 1847. They named their farm Lemon Grove after the two lemons they found growing on their farmstead. In 1861, the Lewis family sold the farm to Wm Hite who raised cotton until his death in 1903. His son Burt bought the land again and kept it until he died in 1961. That year, it passed to his daughter Dora Hite who married Homer Satterwhite Jr., also of Lemon Grove. In 1984, she sold it to Harry Seibert who developed it into what we now know as Lemon Grove Parkland subdivision which includes over 100 homes and businesses including PGA Golf Club, Chili's restaurant, Stonington Spa Resort & Casino (the only casino east of San Francisco), Allianz National Insurance Company headquarters building (now known as THE ALLIANZ Arena), Sleepy Hollow Elementary School (now called Sleepy Hollow Middle School) and Belleview Baptist Church which was built between 1924-1928 by Sam Atherton based off designs by architect Arthur Godfrey Beasley for Reverend Drury Lickadyce One of the earliest residents of Lemon Grove was Mrs Hillyer who arrived with her husband Jens Schmidt on November 15th 1852 from Bundsgaard parish near Copenhagen MD via Oregon Trail wagon train headed for Soda Springs AR . She gave birth to their son George HW Atwater Hillyer on December 21st 1852 at Fort Laramie CO . Mrs Hillyer then went back east with her new baby arriving safely at Harpers Ferry VA on May 3rd 1853 She eventually returned home but decided to stay permanently in Oregon where she died on October 5th 1865 while helping care for her sister Anna Maria Hillyer née Goodloe Mrs Hillyer is buried next door to her husband Jens Schmidt along with their son George HW AtwaterHillyer born December 21st 1850 at Fort Laramie CO and later become an American Congressman from CA On April 20th 1870 Alice Morse moved into #2 bedroom suite @ 2200 block Main Street #1A & here resided until 1886 when her husband Joseph Morse left town for health reasons & Alice moved out & rented room @ 2412 Main Street before finally purchasing property herself 4 years later @ 2636 Main Street which still stands today

Lemon Grove is a small town in Contra Costa County, California, United States. The population was 1,543 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Richmond–Fremont metropolitan area. The name comes from Lemon Tree Lane and Lemon Grove School, which are located in the town center. The first people to live in what is now Lemon Grove were Native Americans who hunted and gathered wild plants near by. In 1835, American citizens Nathaniel Hawthorne and John Muir were hiking through the area when they came across a grove of lemon trees that had not been touched by pollution or disease for centuries. They named their new village after this discovery. Lemon Grove started as a small farming community with about 20 residents in 1850. By 1870, it had grown to around 100 residents; however, most of these settlers moved away during the Panic of 1893 because prices for corn and other goods went up so high! The last resident to leave (and namesake) arrived in 1907 when San Francisco annexed Contra Costa County! During World War II there was an effort to build munitions plants close to Lemon Grove but it failed due to air raids! In 1951, following the merger of Contra Costa and Marin Counties into one county, Lemon Grove became part of that county's new Central Valley region; however it retains its own ZIP code 94534. In 1974-1975 voters passed Measure M which renamed all public schools within central Contra Costa County "Lemon Grove School District". This event signified a change in school governance within Contra Costa County as compared to previous years where individual school districts operated independently without any centralized control or coordination between them - this change allowed for more consistent instruction and resources at our local schools across all geographic areas inside our larger county government structure). Since then many upgrades have been made to both Lemon Grove School District property and district headquarters including: • Replacement of aging infrastructure - such as roofs/windows/elevators etc.; • New construction including classrooms/paces/hallways; • improvement of parkland adjacent to school boundaries; • Expansion onto two separate campuses providing more than 2200 sqft each on four acres - making room for future growth!
