Lemoore, California has a rich military history dating back to the early days of the United States Air Force. The town was founded by American pioneers in 1907 and today is home to one of the United States' largest air force installations. The Lemoore Air Force Base began operations in 1941 as a small training ground for new pilots. It quickly became an important asset of the USAAF, serving as a hub for training fighter pilots and bombers across the country. In 1951, Lemoore AFB was designated as America's first airbase on an artificial island in San Diego Bay. During the Vietnam War, Lemoore AFB played a critical role in Operation Rolling Thunder – one of America's mostintensive airstrikes against North Vietnamese targets. The base also served as headquarters for both Fighter Wing 5 and Bomber Squadron 326 during that conflict. In 1995, Lemoore AFB was redesignated Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson - Lemoore Field joint mission command center (JBEMLC). This facility is responsible for all USAF activities at Lemoore AFB including airlift operations, processing of drugs and weapons seizures, providing hangar space to squadron members and other DoD contractors, and providing intelligence support to Joint Chiefs of Staff commanders worldwide. Since its inception, JBEMLC has been home to more than 4200 servicemen and women from over 55 countries who have participated in some aspect of USAF operation or assignment at Lemoore AFB since 1994. In addition to its operational capabilities – which include flying more than 1 million hours flat out; hosting more than 1300 aircraft sorties per year; conducting research into advanced aircraft technologies; supporting Operation Joint Strike Operations; providing security for world leaders during international events such as NATO summits; hosting popular concerts and sports events; helping families deal with difficult family court proceedings... JBEMLC also provides unique programming opportunities including several undergraduate programs that focus on technology leadership development through R&D projects related to drone warfare or cybersecurity... In less than five years since it opened its doors... JBEMLC has become one of the most versatile field commands within our armed forces."

Lemoore is a small city located in Kern County, California. The population was 2,711 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the San Joaquin Valley and has been named one of the "Top 10 Small Towns to Live In" by Forbes Magazine. Lemoore is known for its Horses and Murphys (a breed of sheep) and its annual rodeo which takes place in late July or early August. The town's economy revolves around agriculture, ranching, and tourism. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Lemoore were members of a group led by Antonio Vallejo who charted the course that would lead them to present-day Fresno on January 3, 1769. They named their new settlement after Captain James Cook's ship HMS Endeavour which had anchored off the mouth of the Sacramento River six days earlier. Captain Cook had discovered Terra Bella on March 20th while exploring Santa Cruz Island with his party including Juan Rodríguez de Mendoza and José Gaspar de Portolà. Vallejo named it La Paz after José Gabriel Pacheco y Terraza who was Spanish Governor of New Spain at that time. Lemoore was founded on February 14th 1851 by Colonel Lorenzo Simpson who purchased 640 acres (253 hectares) northeast of present-day Lemoore from Michael Atherton for $1,500 cash plus 400 acres (12 hectares) donated by John Larkin who also lived in nearby John Day Canyon. The town site was selected because it had good water connections, a river crossing spot, access to railroad tracks running through it, easy access to markets for goods transported eastward overland via stage coaches or wagon trains, and an easily accessible water supply from two wells just east of town square according to historian Stuart Wagoner who wrote about this period: "The location [of Lemoore] made sense since there were plenty of upriver crossings available for wagon trains traveling between Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe." The first post office opened in Lemoore on May 1st 1851 under name Henrysville; however no mention is made regarding its closure any time soon thereafter likely due to lack of business or other reasons until 1865 when it reopened as Lemozier underwidow Anna Maria Smith’s assumed name following her husband’s death......... In 1882 surveyor George Hill noticed high mountain ranges dominating both sides of what are now I-5 northbound and US 101 southbound coming down from Needles Peak towards downtown Los Angeles; he called these ranges “the ridges”........... Development began along Whatcom Creek southown into what are now I-5 eastbound starting in earnest with construction started on streets within sight/reach/tone/touch OF NOWHERE near today's center square............ By 1910 most businesses were oriented towards tourists visiting Andalusia region located about 12 miles southeast...... Today much older homes have been preserved within boundaries set when community platting took place.......

On Dec. 5, 1941, the United States Air Force activated its 1st Bombardment Squadron (1BS) at RAF Northolt, England as part of World War II's "Big Day." The squadron was initially equipped with P-38 Lightning fighter planes and was re-designated as the 367th Fighter Group on Jan. 15, 1942. The group flew combat missions over Europe from RAF Haltembourg in early 1942 and then from bases in Spain and Italy before being assigned to Allied forces in North Africa in late 1942. The group participated in Operation Torch which led to the liberation of Benghazi from Axis control on Nov. 8, 1943. The group subsequently returned to America where it was redesignated as the 370th Fighter Wing on Mar. 15, 1944 and activated at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio that same day as one of four new wings reactivated under Republic Aviation Corporation's newly created Thunderbird program within Strategic Air Command (SAC). The wing flew Lockheed P-39E/F aircraft untilactivated on Sept 6 1945 when SAC disbanded following the end of hostilities in Europe. With its last operational plane destroyed in 1946, the 370th FW closed down at Wright Patterson AFB and folded its activities into the nearby Iowa Air National Guard's 309th Fighter Wing which also used this name for a few years until it changed back to 370FW effective May 1 1949
Lemoore is a small city in the San Joaquin Valley of California, located about 121 miles northeast of Sacramento and 78 miles east of Fresno. The population was 24,533 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fresno-Madera-San Joaquin Combined Statistical Area. The first white person to come to Lemoore was Lorenzo Dowdell in 1847. He founded a cattle ranch on the edge of town and named it Dowdell's Ranch after himself and his wife, Chloe Dowdell. In 1849, two brothers by the name of Folsom settled in Lemoore and started a grocery store called "Folsom's". They were followed by Auld & Stephens which opened its doors on Main Street in 1851. By 1865, there were 10 stores in Lemoore with a population of over 100 people. In 1881, Jepson Paper Company built what is now downtown Lemoore on lower Broadway Street. The company had been organized in 1880 by John Hockaday who became its first president. At that time it was one of America's largest paper companies with plants throughout North America including one near Tacoma, Washington (now called Kentwood). After World War II Jepson Paper closed its operations in California but continued operationally as an independent paper company until 1984 when it merged into GlaxoSmithKline plc becoming known as GSK plc - Lemoore Division
