There are many stories of coffee shops in Lemoore, California. One story dates back to the early 1900s when a group of businessmen from San Francisco, California started a coffee shop in the heart of town. They named their business The General Store and served fresh coffee all day and overnight. Over time, other businessmen opened their own stores and The General Store became a popular hangout for Lemoore residents. In the 1940s, The Grapeseed Coffee Company began selling coffee from a truck on US Route 395 near downtown Lemoore. This truck was known as the “Coffee Lady” because she would drive around town selling beans and cream while singing songs such as “I Can't Quit You Baby” and “All I Want For Christmas is You (My Love).” In the 1960s, Don Hutson opened The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf at 1007 2nd Street in Lemoore. He was one of the first people to import Darjeeling beans into America and serve them fresh at his store. Hutson is considered one of the founders of modern roasting methods. His store also served as a meeting place for local farmers who grew bean crops for him to roast. By 1970, A&W had moved out of downtown Lemoore and replaced it with their new headquarters on Abbot Kinney Boulevard in what is now known as Old Town Lemoore. At this point, A&W operated over sixty cafes throughout California statewide with more than two thousand employees including managers, brewers, sales people and technical staff responsible for quality assurance across all aspects of brewing process including grinding/custard making; prepping drinks; packaging; shipping; serving processes;and advertising/marketing operations In 1984-85 A&W merged with another large food company formed by combining two smaller companies: Nestle Waters USA Incorporated (now part Of PepsiCo) with Unilever plc., creating an empire that included more than fifty Cafes located throughout North America under five different brands: Nestle Coffee Roasters (UCSD), Nescafe (New York City), Perrier (Paris), Lavazza espresso( Later acquired by Starbucks ), Dunkin' Donuts - both UPNational Doughnutschains which were later spun off into their own entity - Pillsbury Doughnuts - Jamba Juice - manufactured SnackWell products ...... And lastly Beignets....... forming Beignets Corporation which controlled more than seventy seven percentof global beignet market share....... until its bankruptcy in 2006 ......Today Nestle WatersUSA Incorporates various divisions worldwide that produce nearly 300 unique brands catering to dietary restrictions such as veganism......

Lemoore was founded in 1847 by Josefina Lemoore and her husband, Manuel. The town was named after the Spanish word lemuel (a mountain peak) and the first post office opened in 1851. A lumber mill was founded in 1859, and a sawmill in 1865. In 1877, Lemoore became an incorporated city. It had a population of about 2,500 people when it merged with nearby Redding to form Redding-Lemoore City on February 1, 1984. The city's economy changed rapidly during the 20th century. Manufacturing stopped production at the mills around World War II; however, new businesses such as retail stores and restaurants started up soon afterward. The city experienced significant growth during the 1960s through the 1970s as its population increased from 2,500 to over 11,000 residents. However, economic prosperity declined throughout the 1980s before initiating a slow rebound starting in the 1990s that has seen Lemoore experience periodic declines in its ranking on various national lists of cities with high poverty rates but increasing levels of professional and technical achievement. Lemoore is located near several mountains including Butte Peak (1,543 feet), Mount Shasta (3,153 feet), Mount Wilson (2,965 feet), Mount Diablo (835 feet), and Mount Whitney (1855 feet). The town is bordered by redwood forests to the north-northeast and east-central California; Douglas fir forests to the northwest; Siskiyou National Forest to the south; Willits National Forest tothe southeast; and Modoc County tothe west.
Lemoore was founded in 1853 by James H. Lemoore and his family. The town grew quickly, becoming a specializing center for lumber and mining production. In the late 1800s, Lemoore became an important transportation hub due to its connection to the California Central Railroad. In 1916, Lemoore was renamed after American author Jules Verne.
