A leader both inside and outside Congress, Lincoln soon found himself embroiled in disputes with fellow Republicans over issues such as multiple interpretations of Reconstruction legislation which had been passed under Johnson during his tenure as Ulysses S Grant's Secretary Of War - a situation that ultimately led him into conflict with Chief Justice Salmon P. Chase over Kansas' admission into Union as state #9 on November 8th 1860 - an issue that would come to be known as "The 12 Days' Crisis." Finally becoming involved with leading politics once more after leaving office as president on April 14th 1865 due to health problems brought on by inflammation caused by yellow fever - four days after General Robert E Lee surrendered at Appomattox Court House - Lincoln pardoned all Confederate soldiers serving within The Union including those convicted for treason including John Wilkes Booth who assassinated President James Buchanan just four days later at Ford’s Theater near Washington D.C., thus ending World War I less than one year after its commencement!
