Air Force gift history in Livingston, California began with the establishment of the United States Air Forces in 1947. The USAF was formed to provide airpower for the US military and its allies. The USAF first stationed personnel in what is now Livingston, California in 1948. The USAF presence in Livingston continued through the Korean War and into the Vietnam War. During these years, many Aircraft were gifted to the city by members of the USAF or their families. Some of these gifts include: a KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft, an F-111A Starfighter jet fighter plane, a C-130H Hercules Globemaster III transport plane, a Bell AH-6Y Little John helicopter and more! In 1971, AFB Livingston was transferred from USDF control to CAANG control. This change saw an increase in operations at AFB Livingston as it became home to both CAANG's Pacific Air Forces Headquarters and Seventh Air Force's Andersen Air Base (later Yuma Air National Guard Base). In 2003, AFB Livingston was again transferred from CAANG control to USDF control under Operation Iraqi Freedom - an effort to provide basing support for coalition forces fighting Saddam Hussein's regime. Since 2003, AFB Livingston has seen considerable growth as it continues its role as one ofUSDF's premier aerial training sites. Today, AFB Livingston is home to over 6500 active duty service members and civilians who offer their time and skills for various aviation related activities at our facility which helps create new generations of pilots and engineers while also providing opportunities for people from all walks of life to learn about aviation.

The Livingston Air Force Base Historical Museum is a museum located on the campus of the now-defunct Livingston Air Force Base in Livingston, California. The museum contains artifacts from the history of the base and its associated units, including the 333d Bombardment Wing. It opened in 1978 and was funded by Lt. Gen. James H. Doolittle's donation to the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Airforce gift history stretches back to World War II, when the United States military began purchasing aircraft for its forces. The first American jet fighter was obtained in 1948, and by 1951, American air forces had commenced Operation Overlord, which aimed to capture German bomber bases across Europe. During the postwar years, the USAF purchased a number of helicopters for use in search and rescue operations. This led to the purchase of Boeing 707s as cargo planes in 1958, and eventually resulted in the introduction of the 747 airliner into service. The USAF also began developing nuclear weapons, which led to thePurchase of Lockheed F-117A Stealth Fighters in 1987. These aircraft were used as part of Operation Desert Storm against Iraq in 1991. Since then, USAF jets have been flown over Afghanistan several times for combat purposes.
One air force officer, generalmajor Jack C. Hickey, donated a Colt Single Action Army revolver to the USAF in 1962. The gun was gifted to the USAF as part of an Air Force gift history program initiated by then-Air Chief Marshal Sir John Pershing.
Livingston, California is a city located in Contra Costa County, California. The population was 27,604 at the 2010 census. It is the largest city in the county by population. Livingston was founded on January 1, 1879 by brothers Elias and George Livingston. The town was named after George's father, Lewis Livingston who had been born in Scotland and died in 1854. Livingston became a city on December 15, 1984 when it merged with Pittsburg and San Ramon to form the new City of Hercules. The merger came about because both Pittsburg and San Ramon were considered too small for City of Hercules to grow into. The original site of the current city of Livingston had been set aside for military purposes during World War II as part of Fort View Air Force Base which served as a major airfield for American forces during World War II. After the war, portions of Fort View were turned over to civilian control which included land that would later become downtown Livingston
Livingston was founded in 1887 by James A. Livingston, a rancher and entrepreneur. The town grew quickly due to its location on the Gaviota Peninsula, which offered easy access to water supplies and hunting grounds. By 1907, Livingston had a population of around 400 people. In 1916, Livingston joined the California State Railroad Company, which helped promote tourism in the area. The town continued to grow during World War II as military personnel frequently visited for recreation and food storage. In 1951, Livingston became an incorporated city. After years of growth and development, Livingston reached its current size in 2000.
