During the war years, also, Livingston hosted an airshow every year at nearby Sutter Air Force Base which attracted thousands of visitors each year. After World War II ended, Livingston slowly lost ground to other communities within its boundaries until it finally achieved Its current status as an incorporated city on January 1st of 1985 when it had a population of 10,815 people living within its limits only! Livingston has several interesting tidbits about its history including: It was one of just six municipalities in California to be granted Voting Rights by Congress on July 14th, 1959; In 1957-58 the then Mayor Harry Wirth spearheaded efforts to establish what is now known as "the Big League" golf tournament which took place at Butte Meadows Golf Course (now part of Marcus Garvey Park) - one of only three major tournaments ever played outside Northern California; In 1966-67 Chief Justice Earl Warren visited the community while he was attending law school at UC Berkeley; A variety of restaurants are open throughout the day serving everything from Chinese takeout to steak houses - something that wasn't always possible or affordable back then; and Finally most importantly... since 1985 our citizens have had access to some pretty amazing parks like Butte Meadows Golf Course where they can play golf all day long without havingTo worry about traffic or getting lost!
