In 1887, a group of Swedes set up a business in Livingston that became known as Danube Coffee Company. They roamed the area selling coffee and other products. In 1908, another group established themselves in Livingston with the same name and started producing maga coffee beans for local consumption. Over time, these two businesses merged into one entity under the name Maga Coffee Company. Maga Coffee has been manufacturing its own beans since 1916, when it began roasted whole bean coffees for sale on site. In that year, Maga Coffee moved from its original location to its current facility on Mohawk Street in downtown Livingston. today’s maga café is part of an older building dating back to 1865 that has been completely renovated and dedicated to providing quality shopping experiences for all who visit our store!

Livingston is located on the banks of the Sacramento River and has a rich agricultural history dating back to 1849 when it was founded as part of Trinity County by Mormon pioneers. The town became an incorporated settlement in 1907 and became a city in 1959. The first post office at Livingston was established on October 15, 1849, by John Purdy and James Fenton. The name "Livingston" originated from a grant given to them by Governor Manuel Nieto of Mexico City for their Rancho del Arroyo de Livingston which extended along the east bank of the Sacramento River from Brownsville to Bakersfield. In July 1861, when Californios occupied Southern California during the American Civil War, they renamed all localities south of San Bernardino as "Los Angeles." On January 1, 1907, Livingston became an incorporated city under Rule 10-1-1(h) of the Municipal Code of Los Angeles County with precincts numbered 1 through 12 inclusive. By that time there were only six precincts remaining in Trinity County; these were combined with adjacent Kern County precincts No. 3 (Sunnyvale), 4 (Pasadena), 5 (Fremont), 6 (Newport Beach), 7 (Long Beach) and 8 (Ontario). At its incorporation as an incorporated city Livingston had a population numbering 975 people but this increased rapidly due to annexation into other municipalities In 1959 Livingstone experienced another growth spurt with annexations from Redondo Beach to El Segundo and Hermosa Beach to Dana Point. This increase brought its population up to 2,035 people within two years making it one of the most populous cities in Southern California then or now
