Lodi is a small town located in Inyo County, California, United States. The population was 2,748 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Bernardino– Riverside Metropolitan Statistical Area. Lodi is known for its Pomeroy Farm winery and its annual Christmas parade which begins and ends at City Park. The first people to live in Lodi were Native Americans who hunted and gathered food in the area today. A post office called "Lodi" was established in 1868, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1916. The first store here was on Main Street. Today, there are several businesses that operate within the walls of Lodi's City Park including a bank, a liquor store, a fast-food restaurant and more. In 1911, Lodi incorporated as an incorporated town with a population of 20 residents under the name "Lodi Township." In 1917 they changed their name to "Lodi". On July 1st of that year they had their first election as members of the Board of Supervisors with 33 citizens voting yes to incorporation while 19 citizens voted no because they did not want leadership roles or control over city services inside their own town limits (the old township borders San Bernardino County). That same year saw the opening of what would be one of Lodi’s most famous landmarks – Pomeroy Farm – on Dutton Road east of town limits where wines were made from natural grapes grown by Mrs. John Pomeroy (later Congressman John Wertz) during his time as Governor of California from 1913-1917 inclusive In 1924 Mr./Mrs./Son/ Daughter Orville Ewing opened up what became known as “The World’s LARGEST GAS STOVE” Here you could purchase fuel oil up to 12 gallons for $2 per gallon less than any other station around! Today this property still contains portions original to Mrs. Ewing including her well pump house which can be seen from Highway 95 across from her home . On January 8th 1914 when Slocum Company organized their new mining campground just south off I-10 near our current intersection everything started changing for us here at LODI when we got our first post office box delivery! It is located on the southern edge of Interstate 805 and is immediately adjacent to Riverside County. Lodi has been inhabited by the Tongva people for over 10,000 years. The Tongvaowned Rancho de las Pulgas was established in 1851 and renamed Rancho Lodi in 1872 after General Winfield Scott's visit to Los Angeles County. In 1905, Lodi became an independent city under the leadership of Mayor John Sutter with support from then-Governor Hiram Johnson. Lodi's economy revolves around agriculture and housing development; both are important components of its local economy and have been critical for its growth since the early 21st century. Agricultural production includes fruits, vegetables, dairy products, hay, flowers, construction materials such as asphalt and lime, and other crops such as almonds and walnuts. The town square contains a number of historical buildings dating back to 1851 including City Hall (1871), Masonic Lodge No 5 (1872), Post Office (1876), School House No 1 (1901), Presbyterian Church (1899) - now part of United Methodist Church - Public Library Building (1903), Baptist church building erected between 1902-04 which burned down in 1904 but was rebuilt using funds provided by Governor Johnson himself - Interurban Depot which served Diesel service until 1970 before being replaced by Amtrak service - old post office lot on corner of Main Street & East Second Street where agricultural machinery dealership was located from 1909 until it closed in 1961 - also home to two radio stations: KFAN 1050 AM & KFIU 950 FM from 1942 until 1974 when they were merged into one station known as KNX 1070 AM & KNX 1290 FM In 1937 property adjacent to Municipal Airport was acquired for use as a parkland providing gas streetlights along with playground equipment including a ball diamond/hockey rink and slide located near intersection of Roosevelt Way West & North McClure Avenue
