The Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC) is the largest and most diverse USAF command in the world. The AFRC oversees more than 2,000 airmen and women who serve in a number of operational commands and wings located around the United States. The AFRC also has an extensive intelligence gathering wing that conducts overflights into neighboring countries on a regular basis. In recent years, significant redevelopment has occurred in Downtown Los Angeles with projects such as Staples Center and UCLA's new football stadium - both located within walking distance of the old campus buildings that remain largely intact today despite much renovation work over the past few decades. In addition to its namesake university—the first in Southern California—Lola Linda also offers a variety of businesses including restaurants, hotels, shopping malls and office buildings housing; all within easy reach of each other on arterial streets lined with high-end retail stores along with numerous educational institutions including UCLA Medical School and USC Law School among others. Today's vibrant skyline can be seen looking south down Lankershim Boulevard towards Pasadena (to the north), Long Beach (to the northeast), Westwood Village (to the southeast) and Bel Air (to the southwest).
