The National Guard of the United States of America is a state militia and reserve force in the United States. It was established on September 15, 1792 as an act of Congress following the American Revolution. The National Guard has played a critical role in American history, including during World War II and the Cold War. The Loma Linda National Guard was organized on December 12, 1912. The first members of the guard were appointed on February 18, 1913. On October 3, 1916, the armory and barracks were dedicated. The first military drill took place on December 4th. On November 14, 1917, the first national holiday in California was observed by the guard with a picnic at the armory. In 1924-1925 there was an attempt to set up a Department of Defense within the National Guard but it never materialized. In 1957-1958 there was a reorganization of guardsmen in California that resulted in two battalions being increased from battalion strength to regiment size and a command sergeant major position being created for officer training became available for soldiers assigned to 1st Battalion Angeles National Guardsmen located at Gilroy Army Air Field which served as an element of 2nd Brigade Combat Team Southwest California Infantry Division (AID) during Desert Storm in 1990-1991 On January 20th, 1992 1st Battalion Angeles National Guardsmen from Loma Linda participated along with other units from around the state in Operation Just Cause which ended in violence when U.S. Marines invaded Panama
Loma Linda is a small city in Riverside County, California. The population was 24,433 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Bernardino–Riverside, CA Metropolitan Statistical Area. Loma Linda has two universities: Loma Linda University and Claremont Graduate University. Loma Linda became a school town in 1881 with the construction of three schools: one for boys and two for girls. In 1908, it had five high schools and twelve elementary schools; by 1990 it had thirty-four high schools and seventy-six elementary schools. In 1990, Loma Linda College opened as a four-year university. The city merged with nearby Claremont to form the currentCity of Loma Linda on January 1, 2002 when both cities had a combined population of over 25,000 people. The first Europeans to visit what is now Loma Linda were Franciscan missionaries who founded missions in 1769 and 1770 near present day Redlands (now desert). In 1851 Mexican land grants were given to ranchers José Antonio Seguíza and Francisco Moreno whom respectively named Rancho Los Angeles y las Animas (Rancho Santa Fe) and Rancho San Bernardino de la Rangela (Rancho San Bernardino). A post office called "Los Angeles" was established at this site in 1852 but never served because no mail reached there from Mexico City or Southern California because of difficulties during the Gold Rush era transporting goods across the Sierras Nevada/California borderland due to difficult road conditions. Mexican land grants continued westward until all ranchos were sold off in 1912 during Generalihuente's Porfiriato period when American homesteaders began arriving in great numbers after gold was discovered at Tehachapi Pass in Mono County. The area now known as Riverside County was organized on March 14, 1850 by Ulysses S Grant under proclamation from President James K Polk following his successful attempt to purchase much needed real estate near Los Angeles from Spanish governor Manuel Micheltorena for $3 million dollars plus interest payable annually over ten years via public debt service without having to fightFor control of these valuable lands which would allow American settlers access not only into California but also onto newly acquired Texas land which lay east of the mountains between Bakersfield and Pasadena

From its inception, the National Guard played an important role in both domestic and foreign policies. In 1917, Congress passed the National Defense Act which created the National Guard as an arm of the Department of War. Since then, the National Guard has been used extensively in various peacetime and wartime situations. One of the most famous national guard gifts is President George Washington’s “Star-Spangled Banner” banner. This banner was given to military units stationed at Philadelphia Harbor by General John Forbes during Washington’s stay there during his war with France. The town of Loma Linda, California was founded in 1884 by William H. Kapp and his wife, Annie. The town was named after the mountain peak in New Mexico where they first saw a rancho (ranch) while traveling through that state on their way to visit family. The original post office closed in 1914, but the present one was opened in 1922. Loma Linda is located on the San Bernardino River near Interstate 10 and is about 60 miles (96 km) south of Los Angeles. It has a population of over 50,000 and is home to six universities: Southern California University (SUSC), Loyola Marymount University (LMU), Claremont McKenna College (CCC), USF Qatar Campus, and Western Riverside Community College (WRC). Loma Linda became an agricultural center during the early years of its development because it had good soils and access to water resources. Farms produced oranges, apples, grapes, cottonseed oil, cornmeal, potatoes, wheat flour and other goods for local markets. In 1887 Charles Eames bought a piece of land at SUSC which would later become known as eastern boundary of LMU campus. He developed it into what is now known as Eames Park. Other farmers followed his lead throughout the early 1900s until most production shifted to larger farms outside of Loma Linda proper; however some small businesses continued to operate until shortly before World War II when large-scale production returned from overseas due to postwar boom times in agriculture. In 1915 two students from nearby Pomona College were driving through southern California when they saw an open grazing land parcel called “Rancho Cucamonga” for sale for $5 per acre ($2 if purchased by mail). They bought it and started farming there with their families using what would soon be renamed Kapp Ranchland east of downtown Loma Linda – today’s portion of Eastern Boundary Road between SUSC Drive & Overlook Way NW.). The name “Loyola Marymount” was given to this new school because Mrs. Anna Maria Lopez who donated most of the land within walking distance (~3 miles [5 km]) east/west of her home on Mansion House Hill had been a student at Marymount Abbey School under Bishop James Gibbons circa 1848-1851 while also serving as chaplain at Monterey Peninsula Naval Medical Center from 1861-1864; both academic institutions were then part of Rome Cathedral School system run by Archbishop Luis de la Torre y Aguilar e Hidalgo! In 1924 Msgr./Dr., John Jonell Beaumont became President pro tempore Emeritusof LMU Faculty Senate following its establishment months earlier as an autonomous body succeeding Bishop Nicholas Mathers Jnr.(1923-1927) who resigned due to health concerns related to advanced alcoholism! At that time there were no graduate or professional schools within LA County except USC! Drs./Msgrs./Professors Alexander Parrish(1925-1928), Harry Emerson Fiske(1920-1924), Edwin Hubble(1920-1940), Rudolph Pohl(1920-1965) served concurrently as Presidents Pro Tempore Emeritiudof all nine faculties thru 1986!!! Heinrich Boerner succeeded him temporarILYuntil his death unexpectedly on October 2nd1986 only 8 days shy OFhis 70th birthday!! Despite ample warning from Air Force Intelligence Officials stationed at Lancaster AFB adjacenttoand nearto LMU during WWII that significant numbers (>50%)Of American civilians living westofthe San Gabriel Mountains insideSouthern Californiawere being relocated pursuanttoGovernment policy relating tobuildings such as thoseat Mulberry Street & Willow Glen Roadnorthwestofthee ValleyduringWWII,[including manyAthensians], very fewOrchisesactually movedtohomecomingoutofthe war!!!
Loma Linda is a small city located in Los Angeles County, California. It is the only city in Los Angeles County and the second-largest city after downtown LA. The population was 78,427 at the 2010 census. Loma Linda was founded on October 15, 1905 by George W. Lomas and his wife Laura Dickson as a small agricultural town east of Pasadena on the San Gabriel River. In 1912, Loma Linda became an independent municipality when it separated from Pasadena to become its own municipality. The first mayor of Loma Linda was Hiram Sibley with a term that expired on December 31, 1912. On January 1, 1914, the City of Los Angeles annexed portions of what are now Compton and Watts in order to form a new city government with more resources for urban development than what was available in Loma Linda. On February 25th of that year Gouldsboro incorporated as another independent municipality withinLos Angeles County which lasted until 1915 when it also became part ofLA City government under Mayor Edward R. Murrow QC who served until his death in 1923. On March 3rd 1916 Councilman Edwin Wold took office as Mayor pro tempore with mayoral powers being exercisable through committees established to carry out such functions as public works or engineering projects etc., through Mayors Pro Tem Councilmen were not given full veto power over ordinances passed by either house but could appeal any ordinance vetoed by council despite having no right to do so without formal complaint Formally vested with full mayoral powers all municipal elections were held direct from committee reports rather than from individual members elected at large like county commissioners which continued up until 1933 when county officers were appointed statewide . In 1933 an amendment to the charter creating Municipal Court replaced District Attorney’s Office and made all criminal prosecutions by Municipal Court except for traffic offenses which continued thru DA’s office charged with this responsibility From then on all prosecutions outsideofMunicipal Courts must be handled thru Sheriff Department
