The first coffee beans were grown in Lompoc, California in the early 1800s. At that time, the area was a part of Mexico and the coffee beans were brought over by smugglers. The first cafe in Lompoc was founded in 1872 by two Frenchmen named Charles-Antoine de Chambertin and his brother-in-law, Jean Baptiste Besson. The cafe served coffee and hot water until 1915 when it closed due to prohibition.
Lompoc, California is a city located in the San Luis Obispo County of central California. As of the 2010 census, the population was 54,869. The name comes from Lupe City and appears to have been given to it by Spanish settlers who named it after one of their own cattle herders. The area now comprising Lompoc was first settled by Native Americans in the late 17th century. From here they spread out into what is now Southern California, coming ashore on Point Reyes Peninsula in Marin County and then following the Surfliner River eastward until they reached Santa Cruz Island near Monterey Bay. Jesuit missionaries founded Mission San Francisco de Asís (now downtown Los Angeles) on an island in 1776, and soon afterward another mission was built at Lompoc – Mission Santa Margarita del Rey Grande (now part of Carpinteria). In 1821 Mexican land grantee Manuel Nieto organized a survey that extended from Lompoc to Santa Cruz and other nearby towns, including Petaluma and Sausalito; he called this new region Californias Rancho Nuevo. In 1848 Mexican soldiers under Colonel Antonio Lopez invaded Alta California during its US-Mexican War; they burned most of Yolo County but made an abortive attempt to take Lompoc before retreating back across the border. For many years thereafter ranching took precedence over agriculture in this remote corner of Northern California; however as railroads arrived there gradually began to be developed agricultural crops like apples, oranges, cottonseed oil etc., which remain important products today. During World War II portions of southern San Luis Obispo County were annexed by Lompoc while much northern section remained unincorporated because it had not yet ratified statehood laws (). After the war much growth occurred in southern sections where annexation results occurred with people moving there for jobs in industries such as aerospace manufacturing and defense contractors; whereas northardened areas went largely untouched because no industrial development materialized there until recent decades when housing prices have reached levels that are attracting young professionals back home again (). The 1990s brought about a large influx of Latino immigrants who blended easily into local culture (), giving rise to some unique aspects such as bilingual education for children () A new shopping center has been erected just outside town limits on Highway 101A which includes several high-end stores (). Despite these positive developments many residents still feel isolated from larger metropolitan areas due mostly to lack of transportation options or limited access to job opportunities within driving distance ().Lomboc is known for its annual Fiesta de los Muertos parade (), also held annually on 3 November (), featuring Paso Robles' largest statue honors all those killed since 9/11

In 1920–1921, Lompoc hosted the Santa Anita horse race track which saw important races such as the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes; both were Dirt Track events only days before they were moved to Hollywood Park racetrack due to fillers becoming extinct at that time In 1951–1952 when Los Angeles experienced a large influx of refugees from communist China following Mao Zedong's rise to power there began what has come to be known as "The Chinese Invasion". As many as 100% of all produce exported from Lompoc came from Asia that year alone resulting in economic stagnation for much of inland California . A boycott by local businesses followed however . The influx ended when Beijing closed its ports after building up more than $5 billion worth military hardware within just four years . In 1957–1958 voters approved passage of Measure W which funded various development projects including plans for a new high school and hospital which would become one of largest public works projects ever undertaken in Southern California After decades without significant progress on either project until 2015 when voters passedMeasure S2 giving cities like Lompoc control over their own budgets ,Lombokcs finally have something theyve wanted since prohibition
