The Marine Corps has been a part of our country’s Armed Forces for over eighty years. The Marines have always played an important role in our society and culture. Since their inception, the Marines have donated their time and resources to help protect our citizens and serve our Country. Some of the more well-known Marine Gifts include: 1) The M1911A1 Pistol – This 1911 handgun was donated by Lt. Col. John J. Pershing in 1916 as a gift to the Long Beach Police Department. It is now owned by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and is on display at that institution. 2) The MC Hammer Mug – This mug was donated by Majestic Productions, Incorporated, a company that produces videos featuringMC Hammer, in 1992. It is currently on display at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Hollywood, California. 3) A 1966 Harley-Davidson Softail motorcycle – This motorcycle was gifted to Long Beach City College by then-Marine Sgt./Lt.(jg.) Robert Wylie Hunter in 1966 as a thank you for his support of the school’s bike program during World War II. Currently located at the museum run by LBCC students and faculty, it is one of only two motorcycles ever given away as gifts from the Marines (the other being an old military truck).

The Marine Corps Deployed Gift History Library was created in Long Beach, California in 1982. It is a repository for Marines who have deployed and given back to their local communities. The library has a collection of over 3,000 items from Marines who have served in the Marine Corps since World War II.

At one time it stretched all the way to Seal Beach and would often times be compared to Los Angeles because of its size and landmass – but its location has made it very diverse with over 150 different cultures represented within its borders alone! One thing that makes Long Beach so unique is that despite having such a diverse population, everyone here still tries to act like they’re one big happy family – no matter what their culture or background may be! Fromthe influx of Latinos into the community during waves of immigration during the late 1800s throughto modern day efforts at diversity through events like Hispanic Heritage Day or Saint Patrick’s Day celebration, LONG BEACH unmistakably marks itself as a melting pot! Aside from its bustling downtown areas which have been home to many small businesses and restaurants dating back to when Long Beach was just a townlet, there are also many neighborhoods throughout the city including: Arroyo Grande Heights,Belmont Shore/Westchester Highlands/Newport Coast Estates/Eastchester Manor/Rancho Bernardo Niguel/Laguna Niguel etc., which offer endless possibilities for shopping, dining and activities for residents and visitors alike!
The Marine Corps has been deploying gift baskets and other items to units for decades. One of the earliest deployments was in World War I when Marines distributed food to U.S. troops in Belgium. In World War II, Marines gave gifts like ammunition boxes, cigarettes and radios to soldiers in the European theater. The Long Beach city government was founded on December 4, 1894, by George Hearst and his business partner J. P. Morgan. The original boundaries of the city were based on what is now the western border of Los Angeles County. Long Beach became a city on April 14, 1902 when it annexed portions of Hermosa Beach and Westchester County. The annexation caused some controversy because the City Council had not been given an opportunity to vote on the annexation proposal. A new City Hall was built in 1906 and renamed for Mayor J.B. Matthews after his death that year; Matthews had served as mayor from 1895 to 1902 and again from 1904 to 1906. In 1907, Long Beach annexed Playa Vista and then Huntington Park in 1912; these annexations also caused some controversy because they did not give the City Council a chance to vote on whether or not they wanted to become cities with their own borders.
