The Los Alamitos Air Force Base is home to the nation's largest air force. The base was established in 1942 as a result of the United States' entry into World War II. Los Alamitos is a city in San Luis Obispo County, California, United States. The population was 25,027 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The first U.S. nuclear weapons plant in Los Alamitos was built by General Electric on land that now makes up the eastern edge of downtown Los Alamitos and lies just east of I-5 freeway exit 133 (the "Alamitos Freeway"). The original plant produced two bombs: one test detonated on July 16, 1945 and the other detonated over Japan on August 6, 1945; both were failures. In 1951, GE merged with Westinghouse to form NBC Corporation and production transferred to Hanford near Tacoma Washington from Los Alamitos; this made Los Alamitos the world's second largest reactor builder after Westinghouse's Clyde Fisk Plant in Tennessee. In 1957 GE sold its share in NBC to American Telephone & Telegraph Company for $31 million and withdrew from NBC business entirely. NBC continued operations as an independent company until it too merged with Time Warner in 1997 when both companies became CBS Corporation (CBS). That same year also marked the start of what would be a long decline for los Alamitos - due largely tooming related industries such as shipbuilding and agriculture combined with plummeting real estate values which have left most of downtown abandoned or used primarily for entertainment complexes like Hollywood Bowl etc.. However things changed around 2003 when architect Edward Ladd designed a new downtown core including several large office buildings adjacent to I-5/Alamitosi Boulevard as well as new housing developments nearby which has helped revive downtown LA "LA architecture will never be quite the same again since Edward Ladd designed that revitalization project."

Los Alamitos is a small town in southern California. It was founded in 1853 by Edmund C. Morgan, the founder of the Northern Pacific Railway. Los Alamitos became an important center for physics and engineering after becoming a part of the United States in 1912. The city hosted two world wars and is today home to nearly 60,000 people. The city began as a small Native American settlement called Kappamooka on Mount San Antonio 1 south of present-day downtown Los Angeles. In 1853, Edmund C Morgan established the Northern Pacific Railway at what is now known as Union Station and named his new town Los Alamitos in honor of George Stephenson's Analytical Engine that had been built three years earlier in Sheffield England. The first post office opened in 1854 and soon there were growing numbers of settlers here from both California and other parts of the US. By 1870, over 10% of the population lived here permanently while others moved intermittently throughout history until their departure or absorption into larger settlements such as Pasadena or Ventura County when those areas became more populous than Los Alamitos itself. After becoming part of Mexico during the Mexican-American War (1846-48), most Americans left for good during this time period but many returned later under the rule of Emperor Maximilian I – one such individual was Cyrus McCormick who operated a flour mill adjacent to what is now known as Exposition Park before moving his business to Chicago in 1856 where it would stay until he sold it to Andrew Carnegie for $1 million USD including interest in 1906). A few individuals however, decided to stay behind with several families settling near what is now downtownLos Angeles beginning around 1880 when local real estate developer James Wirt saw potential for development between Alameda Street/Canyon Boulevard northward and Spring Street eastward at what then was Rancho Santa Fe land which he purchased for $2 million USD including interest from his brother Samuel Burt (later co-founder of General Electric). This area eventually became known as DowntownLosAlamitos with several large businesses clustering around major thoroughfares like Spring Street/Canyon Boulevard, West Broadway/Pasadena Avenue, North Main Street/present day 5th Avenue Northeast, East Second Avenue Southeast and South First Avenue Southeast currently housing municipal buildings like City Hall & Police Department while smaller businesses line up along smaller streets like Valencia Street & Western Ave which are also home to public schools like Roosevelt High School &CenturyLink Field soccer stadium being built on former military property just eastof DowntownLosAlamitos proper) making it one stop shopping destination among multiple neighborhoods within walking distance starting with Flower District located east off Normandie Drive then going south down Lancaster Road past Ivar Erikson Gymnasium & Home Depot before turning northwest onto Lankershim Boulevard reaching its eastern terminus at Beverly Hills Blvd outside Century City International Airport
