The Coast Guard is a branch of the United States federal government which was created in 1790. The Coast Guard has played an important role in maritime security and disaster relief for over 160 years. Today, the Coast Guard provides leadership and support to national security, law enforcement, and human resources initiatives across the country. It is also responsible for many public safety functions such as Search and Rescue, Ocean Surveillance, Coastal Security and Preparedness, Public Information Officer Duty (PIO), Vessel Traffic Control (VTC), and Marine Mammal Protection Unit (MMPU). The history of coast guard gift giving began with the creation of the U.S. Coast Guardsman's Association on May 1, 1892. This association was formed to promote mutual understanding between members of the coastal militia based at ports throughout America. At its inception, the Coast Guardsman's Association included men from Maine to California. The first annual reunion of individual coast guard units was held in Boston on November 3-5, 1893. In 1916 Congress authorized appropriations for a coast guard academy within 12 months; it opened on September 16th of that year at Fort Mifflin Pennsylvania under command of Rear Admiral John Jervis Wainwright Jr.. In 1932 both San Francisco and New York City donated land for a new Academy campus adjacent to Hunters Point Naval Shipyard; this became known as Alcatraz Island Naval Training Station (). Commodore Elmer Fick developed a plan to create an airfield at this site which became known as Alameda Air Force Base (). On July 12th 1955 Headquarters United States Coast Guard activated two detachments: one at Governors Island ()and one at Hyde Park () near Manhattan Beach California; these detachments were designated Helicopter Squadron One (), Helicopter Squadron Two (), Helicopter Squadron Three (); each squadron had three helicopters purchased by United States Government prior to their activation date (). On October 15th 1956 all six squadrons were reassigned from Governor's Island detachment(s) to Alameda Air Force Base detachment(s) following completion of construction on that facility which included three runways、a hangar\/facility\/media center etc.; these Detachments were redesignated Helicopter Group One (), Helicopter Group Two (),Helicopter Group Three ()); each group featured four helicopter squadrons equipped with Boeing 727 aircraft (). On October 9th 1957 Headquarters US Coast Guard activated one helicopter squadron only: Helicopter Squadron Four (). This unit operated North American P-51 Fighter Aircraft assigned to Patrol Wing Atlantic () during 1958 Cuban Missile Crisis (); after five years service they were deactivated effective January 1st 1960 due lack ofreplaceable parts .
The Coast Guard is a national emergency response force responsible for the management and protection of coastal areas. In addition to providing maritime security, the Coast Guard provides law enforcement and rescue services in support of civil authorities when needed. The service also conducts a variety of other missions, including fisheries research, environmental monitoring, and coastal erosion control. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) sponsors the Coast Guard as part of its International Program Office. This program gives rise to cross-border cooperation between NASA's civilian agencies and the Coast Guard in many important scientific projects. In order to maintain an effective coast guard presence along our nation's coasts, Congress has allocated funds for various programs which are used to improve safety on our waters both from vessel traffic and human activity. These include: A recent report by the Congressional Research Service found that "the value placed on public education concerning maritime safety issues continues to grow," with more people now awareness than ever before about their responsibilities while travelling near or within range of vessels or shorelines. With heightened awareness comes increased interest in buying marine insurance policies as a way to protect oneself against potential accidents or claims arising from any type of mishap onshore or afloat - be it through slip-ups while driving down a street corner after dark or becoming stranded on vacation without proper firefighting gear).

Los Altos is a small city in San Mateo County, California. The population was 7,381 at the 2010 census. It is located northwest of San Francisco and southeast of Santa Clara. The name means "the highlanders." The first permanent residents of Los Altos were three families from Taiwan who arrived in 1868. They cleared land and built a house on what is now Pemberton Avenue. The three families continued to live there until 1872 when they moved to the current site of Los Altos Village which they founded. In 1874, two brothers, Hiram and John Brougham bought 1/4 acre (0.22 km2) of land at the junction of El Camino Real and Alma Street for $200; this became Brougham Ranch which served as their home until 1886 when they sold it to Charles Waddell who then donated it to the town for use as school ground and community center In 1906, five brothers founded Menlo Park Corporation together with Elisha Graydon Cooke, James Atherton Mayo, George Hearst Jr., Clifford Dennett Putnam and Lewis Hillman: these men subscribed $5 per share for 50 years in order that Menlo Park could be developed “for the betterment all classes” by giving employment to many people from all walks of life In 1914 Menlo Park became an incorporated city under the name Los Angeles

Los Altos is a small town located in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. The population was 10,241 at the 2010 census. It is part of the city of San Francisco. The early history of Los Altos can be traced back to 1847 when prospectors discovered gold in the nearby hills. In 1850, a post office and store were founded in what is now downtown Los Altos. In 1861, an army detachment called "Cortlandt's Battalion" was stationed here during the American Civil War and numerous cannons were captured from Confederate forces by General George Biddle. The battalion later served as headquarters for units fighting in various campaigns throughout California and Nevada before being disbanded in 1865. In 1881, local farmers formed a cooperative society to grow crops on land that had been donated by Judge John Sutter. This group became known as the Los Altos Cotton Growers Association and many of today’s buildings date from this period including the Bank of America building which still stands today (the first bank west of Chicago). The growth ofLos Altos led to several changes including incorporation as a city in 1912; annexation by San Francisco in 1917; establishment as a borough within San Francisco in 1922; and finally becoming an independent city on January 1, 1949 with a population of 10,241 people. During World War II, Los Altos played an important role as one of two U-shaped military training camps located near San Jose (the other camp was at Mission Peak) for Japanese troops who would be used for combat service behind enemy lines during World War II. Many members of local families also volunteered their time or resources to support war efforts both inside and outsideof LosAltos through services such as fixing roads, providing food or working at home gardens while their loved ones fought overseas or domestically. On October 15th 1976 Typhoon Isabel made landfall just east of El Sobrante County boundary line making it one day after making landfall over Hong Kong adding even more credibility to claims that weather modification technology exists within our government In recent years there have been some positive developments taking place such as increasing enrollment at local schools and new businesses starting up around town which has helped revive downtown shopping areas like Grant Ave & Paseo de la Fe Rd which are experiencing significant redevelopment trends . There are also plans underway to add more housing units into existing neighborhoods following decades long demand from locals wanting more density near transit stops .. Overall we feel that there is much potential for growth here especially given how open minded everyone seems towards change
Los Altos was founded in 1836 as a small hamlet on the slopes of Mount Diablo. It became one of California's most important mining and agricultural towns, and its population grew to over 10,000 by 1870. The town was renamed Los Angeles in 1886 after Southern Californians who had moved there during the late 1800s gold rush. In 1915, Los Altos joined the City of Los Angeles; it remained an enclave within the city until 1983 when it became its own independent municipality.
