This impressive technological achievement helped turn victory into a possibility for America In 1943 General James Gavin set up Special Projects Division within Army Headquarters named after himself (Gavin Doctrine) which aimed at developing innovative ways how technology could be used effectively by our Armed Forces This department developed what is now called Marine Corps Aerial Photography Unit (MCAPU)* which photographed enemy positions from high altitudes using Bell 206 helicopters†† In 1944 Major John Fenton became Commanding Officer MCAPU operations area south Andaman Islands** After successfully photographs airstrip at Milne Bay on Java he directed photos taken by helicopter over Borneo village Langsdorp near Brunei Island*** In 1945 his unit reached Pulau Tawi Atoll**** There has always been a strongmilitary connection between Los Angeles County & The City Of Angels!
