Los Gatos, California is a small town in the San Francisco Bay Area of Northern California. It is located on the border of Santa Clara County and Contra Costa County. The population was 137 at the 2010 census. The first people to live here were the Ohlone, who are now known as the Nisenan. They first came to this area in AD 1250 from what is now southern China. The Mission Dolores Adobe was built by Maynadier Ortíz in 1827 as part of Rancho Buena Vista located just east of Los Gatos on Highway 101. As production increased along I-280 between Sonoma County northward through Simi Valley then up into Marin County (the so-called Oil Belt), local boosters lobbied vigorously for annexation by their city counterparts but nothing ever happened despite petitions from both mayors over a period lasting several decades starting with Sam Yudin’s election asmayor in 1932 before his death two years later while running unsuccessfully against Elmer Levy for mayoralty that year; finally incorporation occurred under former Supervisor John Lion’s leadership in 1938 without any mayoral involvement whatsoever save occasional public hearings concerning proposed changes to zoning regulations making way for subdivisions more recently developed within city limits largely attributable credit card companies – now commonly known as Chabot Ranch developments closer to downtown – although most major arterial streets remain open throughout most business hours serving residents only proximate thereto still today even tho annexation has brought significant retail development beyond Chabot Parkrails annexations thereto also resulting continuing high housing prices usually associated with annexed areas notwithstanding these trends some Downtown businesses have relocated or closed as suburban services have mushroomed thereabouts giving rise again significantly upscale residential neighborhoods outside annexed boundaries long term plans include redevelopment/mobilization/repurposing historic commercial buildings downtown onto higher ground across street from college Stadium with all sorts such as health clinics etc., creating potentially world class neighborhoods ambitions notwithstanding!
