The Marine Corps has been deployed in many places around the world, but Los Gatos, California is no exceptions. The city was home to a Marine detachment from World War II until 1966 and has seen numerous deployments since then. Gift history for the Marines begins with World War II when they were stationed here as part of the 3rd Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment. In 1946, they joined forces with the United States Air Force and became the 2d Battalion, Battle Command Squadron (BCS) 1st Marines. From 1951-1952 they served as part of Task Force 77th at Midway Island before departing for Okinawa. There they fought in both battles of Okinawa and against Japan’s Imperial Army in what is considered one of America’s most brutal campaigns of World War II. In 1954-1955 they served as members ofTask Unit 9541(TU 9541) during Operation Neptune Spear which was an invasion attempt by North Korea on South Korean soil. The squadron landed on Ie Shima on September 25th and soon discovered that there was much more than just enemy soldiers present; there were also friendly fire incidents that resulted in several Marines being killed or wounded. After successfully evacuating all their equipment and supplies, TU 9541 withdrew back to Guam where they reembarked for Seoul where their mission continued despite heavy losses among their comrades. They returned to Okinawa on October 15th after nine months deployment and helped repel an amphibious assault by Japanese forces ashore without any casualties on their side. After this particular engagement, BCS 1st Marines were Criticized for being Poorly led due to lack of experience which contributed to American military failures during the Vietnam War era overall including Operation Rolling Thunder which ended in failure due to bad planning and poor execution particularly within BCS 1st Marines specifically After returning from Okinawa they served two tours with Special Forces Group Delta (SFG Delta) at MCAS Miramar before deploying once again to Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War as part of Joint Task Force 83 aka “The Golden Globe Fathers” along with units such as 5th SFG (now Delta Company), 6th SFG (now Alpha Company), 8th SFG (now Charlie Company), 9th SFG (now Blackwater) etc.. During these deployments some interesting events took place such as On July 30, 1972 while unit activities were taking place near Dong Ha Nang beach southcentral Pleiku Province when Control Headquarters Marine Detachment 454 received a call reporting a large group estimated at 10 – 20 thousand Vietcong insurgents had surrounded Camp Beung Doi about 12 miles away located adjacent to a USAF Thundershrike airbase operated by Republic Paper Products Co., Ltd.. HQMCAD4454 ordered its battalion commanders immediately go into action resulting in intense hand-to-hand combat lasting up to three hours between opposing elements which ultimately resulted in two UDT vehicles destroyed Plus several infantrymen killed or Wounded including Sergeant First Class Charles Smerdon who later died from his injuries sustained during battle). Los Gatos, California is a small town in San Mateo County, California on the east side of Silicon Valley. The population was 16,826 at the 2010 census. It is part of theSan Francisco Bay Area and is adjacent to Redwood City and Palo Alto. The area that now makes up Los Gatos has been inhabited by Native Americans for over two hundred years. The first Europeans to come through were Spanish missionaries who founded missions in 1769 and 1770 near present-day downtown Los Gatos. In 1853, an act of Congress designated part of Rancho Santa Clara as part of Alameda County which included Los Gatos. The early 20th century saw a great influx of Italian immigrants who worked in many different sectors including banking, agriculture and electrical engineering. One such immigrant was Umberto Lenzi who foundedLenzi's grocery store in 1922 on First Street which still operates today as a major grocer within the community. Many dual-nationals - Americans born both inside and outside of their home country - made their mark during this time period; like Norma Jean Baker or Giuseppe Zanotti. As development occurred throughout Northern San Mateo County - particularly along Highway 101 – many businesses relocated from downtown into newer buildings or out onto more acreage becoming what we now know as “downtown” areas around highway 101 between First/Second Streets south to north including much of South Palo Alto and parts of Palo Alto proper boundaries; these areas being known collectively as "South Park". Downtown business owners became increasingly numerous while housing developments went up across arterial streets away from downtown primarily serving professionals working westward into Mountain View or eastward into Menlo Park etc., but not nearly so many middle class families purchasing homes there until after World War II when prices for land began to increase significantly due to increased demand by postwar baby boomers seeking affordable starter homes closer to work than ever before allowed according to Mattel Inc.'s study "A Study on Minor Housing Attributes Affecting Home Prices" prepared for Zillow Incorporated."Today South Park consists largely of high-end retail commercial properties situated just off Interstate 95 north towards Livermore Creek although some residences remain located within its boundaries dating back to 1925

Los Gatos was founded in 1887 as a small town on the eastern edge of San Francisco. The town's prosperity only increased during World War II, when Los Gatos became an important munitions production center. In 1957, Los Gatos merged with nearby Santa Clara to form the city of Santa Clara. Today, Los Gatos is a thriving community with a diverse economy and population of over 100,000 people. Los Gatos history begins with the arrival of Europeans in what is now California in 1769. The first European settlers were probably shipwrecked sailors who had been exploring the region for years before finding their way to this spot on the east coast of San Francisco Bay. At some point between 1769-1772 Mexican traders and soldiers arrived in what is now Los Gatos, also searching for new land to populate. From these initial arrivals comes one of America's most significant cultures – that of Spanish American immigrants who began arriving here beginning in 1847. Spanish American immigrants were extremely proud of their cultural heritage and hoped to create an identity separate from that of Mexico; however, they soon discovered that life here was much harder than they anticipated. Life was difficult due to lack of resources and tough competition from Native Americans – primarily the Miwok people – who had been living here since before California became part of Mexico (Alta California). This competition led many Spanish American immigrants to become entrepreneurs and start their own businesses in order to survive. Over time this culture spread throughout various parts of Northern California; eventually giving rise to such successful businesses as Google (founded1975), Apple (founded 1976), Facebook (founded 2004), Amazon Kindle Fire (launched 2007) etcetera……..
