The U.S. Navy has a rich history in Los Gatos, California. The city is home to Naval Air Station Miramar and the merchant marine squadron USS Enterprise (CVN-65) which served as the flagship of the United Statesmarine Forces in World War II. The navy also operated an ammunition dump at Point Lobos from 1941 until it was closed in 1987. In 1957, Miramar welcomed its first naval vessel when USS Grumman F4F-2 Wildcat took delivery from Mobile Bay, Alabama. The Fleet Marine Force's (FMF) first ships were destroyers and frigates that were loaned to the navy for operations during the Korean War. In 1959, Miramar became home to Headquarters Norfolk Naval Shipyard (HNNS), which was then known as Naval Aircraft Factory shipyards No. 2 and 3). From here, aviators designed and built Navy aircraft including the F4U Corsair, A-6 Intruder and P-3C Orion maritime patrol planes; ASROCs (AntiShip Rocket Cats); AH-1W Foxhound scout helicopters; and killer whales for Operation Alligator I – a subversive mission aimed at stopping North Korean nuclear weapons development near Wonsan on Manchuria Peninsula on 25 October 1958. In 1971, HNNS merged with Long Beach Naval Shipbuilding Company to form Long Beach shipbuilders Incorporated (LBI). With LBI’s help, Newport News Shipbuilding Company produced two new classes of attack submarines: SSN 601(M) replacement for Escargo Class Submarines Destroyers of National Defense Reserve Fleet 22000 tons displacement; SSN 602(G) replacement for John C Stennis Class Attack Submarines of National Defense Reserve Fleet 3508 tons displacement These boats combined delivered over 1 Billion dollars worth of submarines into American fleets worldwide! In 1984 Long Beach Shipbuilders Incorporated sold its interest in LBI to General Dynamics Corporation where they continue making submarines today! Commodore Rickover called these boats his “personal contribution to our country” On 5 May 1988 NAS Miramar opened its armory with "USS Enterprise" Flagship Squadron aboard as part of Southern California Aerospacefest celebration - one year after her recommissioning by Captain Jack Welch who was Commandant of US Marine Corps at that time

The Los Gatos, California Naval Air Station is home to the world's only light cruiser squadron and is also home to several aircraft carriers. The station has been a naval air base for over 100 years, and now hosts an active fleet of Navy vessels as well as a number of civilian helicopters.
Los Gatos is a small town located in San Francisco County, California, about an hour south of San Francisco. The population was 8,462 at the 2010 census. It straddles the border of Contra Costa and Sacramento counties. Los Gatos forms part of the East Bay district of San Francisco. The first Europeans to visit Los Gatos were Ayer González and José de Mendoza on October 17, 1769 and they named it after La Gaceta (the Spanish journal). It didn't take long for other Europeans to find out about this place as well - on November 1, 1783 Captain James Cook sailed by and named it "Los Gatos" after its location on the north side of Santa Clara River. America's first stockade was built here in 1856 by Colonel John C. Fremont during his surveys for the Central Pacific Railroad. In 1875, George Hearst founded the Hearst papers here in what is now Hearst Tower. In 1915 he donated land to create Lake Merritt which became home to numerous businesses including Apple Inc., Google Earth, and Salesforce Corporation before becoming a public park in 1978 with a lake view from Hearst Tower. The town incorporated in 1916 and has grown rapidly since then with annexed areas such as Mountain View and Menlo Park; however much of that growth has come from annexation by neighboring cities like Palo Alto and Cupertino over time. Before Interstate 5 was built through the area in 1937-38, Los Gatos had access only to State Route 237 which ran along Donner Pass Rd/State Route 2A east-west until it split off into two routes at Redwood City; SR 237 continued east past Los Gatos Blvd/SR 128 until it reached Gilroy Junction whereupon SR 128 changed designation to I-5 rejoining SR 237 just prior to reaching downtown Los Gatos proper (I-5 formerly ran concurrent with US 101 between El Sobrante and Millbrae)). Today three major thoroughfares run through downtown: US 101 (which runs concurrently with I-5), Sutter Street (a divided street running perpendicular to US 101), and Main Street (running parallel to US 101 but sharing a junction with Sutter Street). Since incorporation there have been many new jobs created within city limits as well as expansions into satellite towns like South Mountain View(), Menlo Park(), Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (), Facebook (), Twitter (), Novartis () & Lockheed Martin (). Downtown redevelopment also includes plans for an $8 billion shopping center planned for 2018 called "Downtown LA".

Los Gatos, California is a small town located in San Mateo County, California. The population of the town was 4,513 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Francisco Bay Area and is adjacent to Silicon Valley. Los Gatos became an incorporated city in 1889. The original name for the community was "Folsom". In 1907, Folsom changed its name to "Los Gatos" after local farmers who had donated land for the new city. The first post office in Los Gatos opened on December 7, 1887. The first store was built on what is now Main Street and it served as a mercantile center for early settlers in the area. By 1900 there were five stores in Los Gatos with a population of over 100 people. In 1912 Los Gatos annexed Sleepy Hollow which had been part of Berkeley since 1876; however, Sleepy Hollow's mayor refused to ratify annexation because he did not believe that Los Gatos would become a better place than Berkeley and he did not want his village near major transportation hubs like San Francisco or Peninsula Mall. In 1913 when voters approved becoming an incorporated city, they also voted to change its name to "Los Gatos". At first there was some debate as to whether or not "los" should be dropped from the name because it sounded tooPolite but ultimately it made sense given that both cities were founded by Spanish immigrants who came from Guanajuato City in Mexico State (now Jalisco).
