The United States Air Force was founded in 1947 as the United States Armed Forces Reserve. The USAF is one of the largest air forces in the world, with over 118,000 active duty and reserve members. The USAF operates more than 63,000 aircraft worldwide and maintains a global presence through its various service branches. Today, the USAF remains an important part of American society and culture, providing for military strength and deterrence against potential adversaries. The history of the USAF gift program can be traced back to 1947 when General George C Marshall formed a committee to study possible gifts that could be made to the newly created Air Force Reserve. The committee recommended that funds be set aside specifically for air force gift programs and that donations be accepted from both public and private sources. In 1951, Congress passed legislation authorizing appropriations for the Air Force Gift Program which would continue until 1984. During this time period, donations totaling $130 million were received by the USAF from individuals and organizations throughout America. In 1984, Congress passed legislation authorizingthe Air Force Specialty Gift Program (ASGP). ASGP provides unique opportunities for members of the military to send presents directly to civilian friends or family members within predetermined limits. This system has been extremely beneficial to civilians as it allows people who may not have access to traditional gifts such as jewelry or cars to express their admiration for members of our armed forces with unique items such as clothing or tools. Additionally, ASGP has allowed many families in Lynwood to Smithsonian-quality exhibits about U S Army aviation during World War II including Hangar 13 at Davis-Monthan AFB where over 1 million artifacts were displayed between 1994-2006

Lynwood, California is located in the state of California and has a population of about 117,000. The city was founded by Mormon settlers in 1853 and it became an incorporated town in 1907. Lynwood prospered as a manufacturing center during the 1930s and 1940s, but its fortunes began to decline after the oil crisis hit America in 1973. The city has since made a comeback with recent development including new housing developments, shopping malls, and professional sports teams.
Air Force gift history begins with the founding of the air force in 1947. The USAF was formed as a result of the National Security Act of 1947, which authorized the President to create a national security advisor and establish military intelligence services. The USAF was tasked with providing air defense for America and its allies and conducting strategic bombing raids against enemy targets. In 1955, Congress passed the Air Defense Act, which gave the USAF authority to provide energy-based missile defenses and establish an operational control center for Missile Command. The USAF also became responsible for providing aerial refueling capabilities to Allied Forces in Europe and supporting Operation Overlord, World War II’s largest airborne assault. The FY2006 budget allocated $525 million to improve air force gift history through initiatives such as historical preservation and aircraft restoration. This increase marks an increase of 50% from FY2005 levels and is Reflective of Congressional intent that our nation's Aerospace Force should reflect its proud heritage by preserving its historical assets while modernizing them for readiness today and into the future. Additionally, many museums across America are now displaying American Military Aircraft (AME) for visitors to learn about their History & Technology!
On 1 November 1944, the United States Air Force introduced the model A-37 " Canberra " as a gift to the Royal Australian Air Force. The A-37 served as the mainstay of USAF airlift until the retirement of the Boeing 747 in 1992. It was replaced by McDonnell Douglas MD-82 aircraft in 1996.
Lynwood is a city in Ventura County, California, United States. The population was 54,769 at the 2010 census. Lynwood is located on the east side of Ventura Boulevard and is adjacent to Westlake Village and North Hollywood. It began as a small community of farms near present-day Moorpark and La Habra in 1887. The first post office opened in 1888 and was called Jordan Station (later renamed Lynwood). The town became a village in 1907 when it merged with nearby Westlake Village. The merger was prompted by railroad issues; the Santa Fe Railway wanted to build its own line through Lynwood but were opposed by local farmers who feared that their land would be taken away for the railway's tracks. In 1915, Lynwood annexed neighboring La Habra. In 1959, after years of planning and controversy, LA Noire – an all black high school – opened in Lynwood. It quickly became one of the largest high schools in Southern California and remains one of the most popular educational institutions in Los Angeles County today. Today, Lynwood continues to thrive as a center for arts and culture with several restaurants and nightlife options available within walking distance of its busy streetscape.
Lynwood, California was founded in 1879 by James Irvine. The city was named for Lynx woodlands located near the town's original location on theranch of Rancho San Luis Rey. The name is derived from a word meaning "beautiful wood."
