Lynwood is a small city located in the Central Valley of California. It was founded by Mormons in 1851, and has been the location for a number of important events in its history. The city was named after the Los Angeles County seat of Ventura, which was destroyed during the 1906 earthquake. In 1959, Lynwood became an incorporated city and it now has a population of around 50,000 people. The first Europeans to visit Lynwood were French missionaries who came to California in 1769.
