Madera's history dates back to 1847 when it was founded by Jedediah Smith and his party on the banks of the Santa Clara River. The town grew quickly due to its location along railway lines and its position as a transportationhub for goods travelling between Sacramento and San Francisco. Madera became an incorporated municipality in 1912. Madera is known for its cheese industry, which produces some of the finest local cheese products such as Augello, Boursin, Camembert, Roquefort, Gorgonzola, Chevre and Feta. Additionally, the city has become well-known for its wine production including two notable vineyards - Chateau Montelena and Château Sauvignon Blanc - both located within walking distance of each other.

Madera is a small city located in Sonoma County, California. Madera was founded in 1849 by businessman George Washington Davis and his wife, Nancy. The town was named after Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto's location of the same name on the Uva River. In 1872, Madera became one of nine towns in the United States to be designated a military reservation under President Ulysses S. Grant. The first post office was established in Madera on November 12, 1849. By 1860, there were six businesses operating in the town: four stores and two hotels. A school was built that year and functioned until 1861 when it burned down due to a fire set by an unknown person or group of people because they thought it would impede trade with other communities on the reservation. In 1865, General John Waco arrived at Fort Ross to lead Major General Edward Pugh's forces during their unsuccessful attempt to seize Santa Clara Valley from Mexican forces led by Antonio López de Santa Anna. Upon his return from Mexico City he began what would become known as Waco's Rebellion which ended with his execution at San José hilltop prison on February 26, 1865. The town of Madera saw some growth during this time as many men from nearby Napa Valley moved into the area for jobs in agriculture or ranching but never really developed until after World War II when some new housing developments were constructed around Courtenay Circle and madero-maderena Roadstands adjacent to Interstate 40/ centered within current day boundaries of the old town limits while much larger portions including almost all of downtown were annexed into neighboring counties (Sonoma County) over time). When World War II ended hostilities had already effectively resumed across most of North America so there wasn't any immediate need for settlers as many farms abandoned during wartime - only about 50% remained throughout most western US through 1945; however approximately 350 residents left Madera specifically for military service based outposts scattered throughout Japan (some still exist today), South Korea (during its period of independence), Australia (during WWII), New Zealand (prior to white settlement), Argentina (), Peru () and Uruguay (). Most returned home once hostilities subsided but a few remain extant today living off agricultural land near Guerra Lake east side along I-40 corridor between Colusa Creek Rd., Old Mill Rd., Ellsworth Rd., Dutch Flat Rd., Nye Lake Rd., Cotati Lakeshore Dr./ highway 10 exit 84 & route 66 access road vicinity.). These include active duty USAF personnel stationed at White Sands Missile Range south end & Large Mountain Ranch west side since 1978; former USAF Bikini Atoll Airfield property leased by University Of Nevada Reno since 1993; plus many others who have found permanent residency here since well before . It is interesting to note that not one house remains standing dating back more than 100 years despite significant population growth rates due primarily to federal government sponsored resettlement programs following WWII which continue unabated even as local infrastructure has failed multiple times - typical example being residential areas immediately adjacent Interstate 80 EBW that have seen little development within recent decades despite high population densities resulting from sizable inflow OF students commuting here for college/university purposes (& numerous job opportunities); such an occurrence typically occurs when major metropolitan areas experience explosive population growth (>10% annual change) while rural populations barely keep up (+2-3% annually)
