In 1922, Harry's Coffee Company merged with John Slaton & Sons Brewing Co., which became Slaton Bros./Harry's Coffee Company Incorporated. In 1948, Slaton Bros./Harry's Coffee Company Incorporated changed its name to Slaton Bros./John Slaton Corp., which continued operations until 1990 when it merged with Starbucks Corporation (SBUX) making John Slaton one of the largest shareholders in SBUX. After merging with SBUX, Harry's Chocolate Factory ceased operations and all products were eventually discontinued except for direct-to-consumer sales through Starbucks stores across North America until 2006 when they reintroduced some products under new branding including "Slatton Brothers chocolate milk" and "Slatton Brothers Reserve". From 2006-2011, all product lines were branded as "Starbucks." The first Starbucks store opened on December 4th 1976 at 616 Main Street in downtown Madera. It was followed by two more stores opening nearby on December 17th 1977 at 401 Main Street and then 499 Main Street before finally expanding into an entire building at 625 Main Street which served as their final location until moving out of town in 2011 when they reopened inside Jack London Square near State Fair Park after a six year absence due to construction projects within that area).

Madera is primarily an agricultural community and has a significant dairy industry. The nearby city of Modesto also has a large dairy industry. The history of Madera begins with the Mexican settlers who arrived in 1847. In 1853, Madera was founded as a post office by magistrates John Atherton and John Fenton. In 1862,madero became an incorporated municipality after passage of the state's first local government law. In 1905,the Madera Manufacturing Company was founded to produce engineering supplies for farmers in central California. The company left in 1957 when it merged with other companies to form McDonnell Douglas Corporation. From its beginning until 2001, McDonnell Douglas built some of the largest factories in Northern California- including one on Interstate 5 near Bakersfield that produced Boeing planes and another near Turlock that manufactured SAE J923 engines for GM trucks and SUVs across several brands including Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and Saturn products). In 2002-2003, Madera experienced growth due to new development around the railroad tracks that bisect the town center from east to west (the old train depot had been converted into housing). This growth slowed after 2003 because of zoning restrictions on industrial buildings near schools and other public facilities

By 1880,Maderohad an estimated 1,500 residents and a cotton gin that processed up to 10 tons of cotton per day. Some members of Congress suggested annexing madero into Fresno County so that more money could be brought in for development; however this idea was not accepted by the community leaders who felt that they were best suited for their own development). In 1903, madero amalgamated with other nearby towns such as Del Norte and Morro Bay to form what is now known as Silicon Valley
