The marines have played an important role in many conflicts throughout the years, and they are still deployed today to serve our country. Additionally, during December 2017’s deployment season there was an event called “Christmas Carol Deployment” which featured performances by local artists at nearby Camp Pendleton beachfront park before dinner at The Olive Garden restaurant near Foothills Regional Airport). Madera, California is a small town located in the Solano County seat of Petaluma, about an hour's drive north of San Francisco. The population was 7,562 at the 2010 census. Madera is one of the few remaining communities in Northern California that retains its independent identity despite being part of larger cities and towns. In spite of this peculiarity, Madera's history is rich and colorful. The first Europeans to visit Madera were Explorers Crespo and Pacheco on November 2, 1777. They reported seeing a "large bay" (now known as Lake Merritt) filled with seals and sea lions on their return trip from observing Alexander Selkirk's discovery of Vancouver Island in 1805. A Dutch fur trader named Hendrick Bastiaens visited Madera in 1798 during his trip around northern California. He noted that "a large bay" surrounded by mountains lay between the mouth of the Shasta River and Colusa River near present-day Petaluma. He also mentioned that there were "many villages" within a radius thereof including Madera proper. In 1825, Knauth founded what would become Knauth & Co., a grocery store and flour mill at 5 Main Street in what is now downtown Petaluma. That year, he also built a house on First Street which still stands today as part of the vecinity center complex housing many local businesses such as The Bay House restaurant and several banks or department stores including JCPenney, Sears & Roebuck et al.. In 1868–69 Captain John Brougham explored Sonoma Valley while sailing for United States Railroads under contract from General George Armstrong Custer along parts of Napa Valley before his expedition into Mexico called The Great North Road Expedition which culminated at Buena Vista Creek near Borrego Springs on February 14th 1870 where he discovered mineral rights for $1 million to prospectors James Irvine (alias Jim Bridger), Wm.[lesson] Hutton (alias David Jones), William Bancroft et al.. Madera, California is located in the Central Valley of California. The area was first inhabited by the Mono people, and then by the Chumash and Maidu people. The Spanish founded Madera in 1777 as an adobe mission, San Fernando de Madera. It became a Mexican territory in 1821 and was returned to American control in 1848. In 1850, it became part of Northern California when that state was created from parts of Mexico and Nevada. As a result of its location within both major U.S. trade routes, Madera developed significant commercial and political connections throughout the 19th century. After becoming part of California during the Gold Rush period (1849-1870), Madera's economy grew rapidly thanks to its strategic location between Sacramento and Reno on Route 66. However, due to population growth, environmental challenges, industrial pollution, and other factors over time Madera has seen health problems such as asthma rates high enough to be considered a public health emergency situation
