In 1963, the US Naval Reserve battalion, 3rd Marines squadron was stationed in Madera as part of Operation Neptune’s Spear which aimed to stop North Vietnamese infiltration into South Vietnam. From 1969-1972, a US Naval Reserve Battalion (3rd Marine Regiment) participated in operations Endura and Coral Sea. These deployments left a lasting legacy on the community and it has been said that they helped shape the character of Madera for generations to come. In recent times, there have been a few deployments by members of the Armed Forces including an air assault team deployed to Afghanistan in 2009 and an amphibious assault team deployed to New Zealand in 2013. HMS Ocean also recently visited Madera making landfall on December 5th giving residents a chance to see one of London’s largest warships before she returns home on January 8th 2019 after spending over two months conducting joint patrols with other vessels around Seal Beach Harbor near San Francisco Bay Area communities such as Emeryville, Menlo Park and Palo Alto while providing security programming for schools and businesses within vital waterports across Northern California Since 2006 there have been regular demonstrations taking place throughout America involving Sailors from different branches of service performing various tasks such as caroling at night or setting up tents at military bases around West Coast cities during Christmas time This year marks the 25th anniversary of Operation Neptune’s Spear which saw personnel from both active duty units as well as reserves mobilized for several weeks leading up until their return home on February 13th

Madera, California is a small town located in Rancheria County, California. It has a population of about 2,500 people and is the capital of the Madera Unified School District. The name Madera comes from "madre" which means mother and "erra" meaning land.Madera was platted in 1887 by George Earle and James Wickersham as a trading post on the Pacific Railroad between Sacramento and San Francisco. Madera, California is located in the Central Valley of California and is a small town of about 10,000 people. The town was founded in 1868 by Hosea M. Smith and his wife, Polly. Madera was named after the Mexican word "madrina," which means "humble place." Madera's first post office was established in 1876. In 1916, the name of the post office was changed to Madera (Calif.) because of the growth of the town and its importance as a farming center. The population of Madara peaked at 20,000 in 1930 but has declined since then due to various factors such as loss of jobs in nearby cities and agriculture becoming less important. The history of Maderas begins with Rancho San Pablo de las Flores, which was acquired by Hosea Murchison from Manuel Nieto on November 15, 1847. The land that now makes up Madera was part of Rancho San Pablo de las Flores until it became part of Mission Santa Clara on July 8, 1850. On October 5, 1860, Don José Altamira granted Rancho San Pablo to Francisco García for $2 per acre plus improvements (including water rights). At this time there were only thirteen families living hereabouts although later many more added over time including some who arrived after Gold Rush days when gold coins were found near Mendocino County during those early years. In 1865 Antonio Gomez purchased 3/8 mile east-northeast corner lot from Don José Altamira for $1 per acre subject to future sale or leaseback passage through agreement between purchaser and owner thereof; lot included 2 acres upland & 1 1/4 acres lake shoreline vis’d from Pacific Ocean shoreline on northeast side ol’ creek bed; current site includes 0.55 ac & does not include any remains ol’ rancho lands situated upon easterly boundary line o' original grantee.'
