The United States Navy has been deployed in various forms and sizes since the Revolutionary War. In Manhattan Beach, California, a military installation known as Naval Air Station Orange County was founded on October 1, 1922. It was one of only a few naval air stations in the Los Angeles area at that time and played an important role during World War II. The base provided training for both American and Japanese pilots. In 1943, Naval Air Station Seal Beach became operational and it remains one of the largest naval air stations in the world today. Naval Air Station Seal Beach served as home to two of America’s most famous aircraft carriers – USS Enterprise (CV-3) and USS Yorktown (CV-4). Task Force 58 which fought off Japan’s Attack on Pearl Harbor was made up of planes from NAS Seal Beach as well as other naval installations in Southern California. These ships were part of Admiral Chester Nimitz’s “Operation Sea Dragon” which aimed to destroy all Japanese warships in the Central Pacific Fleet. This campaign is often considered to be America’s first victory against Japan during World War II. During the Cold War, NAS Orange County played an important role by providing training for NATO jets used against Warsaw Pact countries such as Hungary and Bulgaria. The station also operated a number of Radar installations including AN/TPS-27 Radarscope Warning And Warning System with ability To detect surface targets at ranges up to 350 miles away! NAS Seal Beach also had a detachment of Navy SEAL Team 7 who were responsible for missions such as kidnapping VIPs or rescuing hostages! Finally, NAS Orange County became home to Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command when it was activated on December 15th 1991 after Marine Barracks - Queens opened its doors to service members from all over North America! At this point, NAS Orange County had become so large that it no longer resembled just another military installation; it had become something much more: A city within a city! Today Naval Air Station Seal Beach continues its tradition of providing slipspace jump training for Marines stationed throughout Southern California; however, its primary role now is that of an operations center for USN aviation assets located throughout Western Europe and Mediterranean Sea areas including Operation Noble Eagle – Joint Expeditionary Strike Force activity involving more than 50 nations collectively undertaking anti-piracy patrols off Somalia!

In 1946, the Naval Air Station Ventura County was established at Manhattan Beach, and NAS Ventura became home to America's first jet aircraft carrier, USS Enterprise. NAS Ventura also played a critical role during World War II by producing fighter planes for both Navy and Army pilots.
Manhattan Beach, California is a city in San Diego County, California, United States. The population was 58,291 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the San Diego–Tijuana metropolitan area. Manhattan Beach features seashorelines and its own subarctic climate that makes it one of the most technically diverse areas in Southern California. According to the Köppen Climate Classification system, Manhattan Beach has a cold-summer Mediterranean climate, abbreviated Csb on climate maps. The first people to live in what is now Manhattan Beach may have been Native American who traveled up the coast from Baja California during wintertime for food resources and trade goods. In 1821, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote about "the beautiful bay which looks out upon our city", and in 1827 Captain John Drouillard named it after himself and his family's recently acquired holdings at Point Conception (now mainland Manhattan Beach). In 1880 various groups of settlers began to arrive in what would become Manhattan Beach; some were farmers looking for land to plant wheat or cotton crops, others were business men interested in expanding their businesses into adjacent townships by purchasing property or joining hands with other partners. By 1898 there were over 100 residents living in what would later be called "Manhattan Beach". The first post office was established at Point Conception on December 12th of that year. The name changed several times before becoming familiar with its present form – "Manhattan" being given to it by Drury Lane Theatre owner Julius Carnes as a tribute to then-President James K. Polk while he was visiting Los Angeles during February 1898; this name change came after an advertising campaign featuring photos of New York City streets renamed after Governors General during that year's presidential election campaign. A fire destroyed much of downtown San Diego on May 14th 1906; according to Mayor Simeon Flexner"It appeared as if God had struck us down like a ton of bricks." With few buildings left standing downtownSanDiego quickly began rebuilding with new construction financed by timber sales generated from state forests which had been preserved during Governor Lowell Abraham's administration which followed through on his promise made when he became mayoralty candidate three years earlier: $5 million for public works projects within 6 years no matter how difficult these projects might be accomplished. After almost 50 years since its destruction only 2% remain vacant Surveyors valued demolition costs at just under $1 million dollars – well below any amount they estimated possible salvability could bring back inside via restoration or redevelopment not only including but also surpassing any renderings or plans prepared by architects representing South Bay Architects Incorporated who submitted an engineering proposal seeking rezoning allowing them access to all surplus land currently used for agricultural purposes along US 163 between Harbor Boulevard/US 90 northbound and Ivar Ewing Way southbound within walking distance of their office located across Harbor Boulevard from Safeway Shopping Center eastward along US 163 between Harbor Boulevard/US 90 northbound and Ivar Ewing Way southbound . On October 3rd 2009 five acres adjoining Harbor Boulevard near Safeway Shopping Center eastward along US 163 were sold through eminent domain proceedings initiated by then-City Manager Kevin Faulconer pursuant to Proposition 218 § 1(a) because no development plan had ever been submitted proposing retail use ashore adjacent thereto notwithstanding numerous offers received from developers over the past 10 years’." This resulted in demolishing two structures next door including one belonging to developer Steve Raburn who unsuccessfully lobbied against condemnation proceedings despite offering assurances he would build a mixed use development consisting primarily of residences comprising ground level commercial uses unrelated thereto having beachfront views.] As result many businesses closed immediately following demolition including 11 local restaurant owners occupying former premises priorities switched suddenly overnight from night time dining services utilizing lighted marquee signs erected outdoors directly behind buildings towards morning sunups using asphalt driveways running parallel instead thereof subjecting customers externally exposed without coverings indoors resulting eventually totaling $10 million dollars worth not only lost revenue but also increased traffic congestion associated with additional outdoor parking required once again worsening air quality index rating still today one month later] A totalof 4 establishments remain open today: 3 local restaurateurs (+1 non-profit microbrewery) employing approximately 80 employees plus 5 outside contract workers

Hill presented a set of NROS Medals to midshipmen attending naval schools in Norfolk, Virginia. Manhattan Beach is a small town in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County, California, United States. The population was 2,813 at the 2010 census. It lies on the eastern edge of Downtown Los Angeles and is bordered by Harbor Boulevard to the south and east, Pacific Coast Highway to the north, and Huntington Drive to the west. The town has been home to people for over two hundred years. Manhattan Beach was first settled in 1848 by English colonists as part of Rancho San Pedro Viejo Mexican land grant. The name "Manhattan" came from Manhattan Island in New York Harbor. The first permanent settler was Nathaniel Palmer who arrived in 1853 with his family from England. He started a bakery on Mission Bayou near present-day Highland Avenue and Fourth Street; it became known as Palmer's Bakery after him. In 1861, John Fenton bought 5 acres (20 hectares) of land at what is now downtown Manhattan Beach for $1 per acre (0.40 ha). He built a cabin and began farming apples that he exported to San Diego and Northern California until his death in 1865 at age 71. His heirs sold most of their holdings in 1870 to Aaltus Pillsbury connection (now PG&E) which set out to build an electric power plant adjacent to its current site on Battery Park Drive next door to Fordham University School of Engineering which had just graduated students from that school in 1911 In 1922 Captain George Wright founded Wright Air Service Inc., one of several aviation companies founded during World War II including Boeing Airplane Company, Lockheed Aircraft Corporation and North American Aviation Company with headquarters located just south of today's MacArthur Blvd between First Ave./I-805 & Third Ave./Highland Ave./Pacific Coast Hwy., across from Shoreline Aquarium later Candlestick Park In 1945 Don Bollinger established Bollinger Bros Marine salvage business ashore using old wharf facilities along present day harbor Blvd between Ocean Way/Canyon Drs NW & I-5 etc..After WWII large commercial fishing fleets used nearby Long Beach Harbour especially whenLong beach declined during post war era plus military buildup creating extensive dredging operations throughout inland coastal region beginning about 1959
