The first aircraft were purchased by the USAF and assigned to bases around the country. In 1959, a new squadron was formed at Patrick AFB, Florida which became known as “The Thunderbolts”. This squadron was equipped with North American F-86F Sabres. In 1960, another squadron was created at Tinker AFB Oklahoma which became known as The Eagles. These squadrons were also equipped with North American F-86Fs however they flew Boeing 7029 model airplanes instead of Sabres. In 1966, a fourth squadron was created at Edwards AFB California which became known as The Pajamas. This squadron flew Lockheed L-3CDragonflies and Douglas DC-9s however they did not receive any equipment from other branches of the USAF and only used their own resources to fly these planes. In 1978, a fifth squadron was created at Whiteman AFB Missouri which became known as “The Hornets”. This squadron flew McDonnell Douglas MD-8H Hustlers and Lockheed L-1011 Starliners both based on Boeing 747s however they received no equipment from other branches of the USAF and only used their own resources to fly these planes

Manteca, California is a small town located on the Simi Hills plateau inranch of Ventura County, California. The population was 5,644 at the 2010 census. Manteca is known for its agricultural products and wine production. The name Manteca comes from the Nahuatl word "mantlán", meaning "place where beans are grown." The area that now Manteca was once part of Rancho Niguel (now part of Buena Park) and it was there that Antonio Campos first settled in 1827. Campos had come to America as an employee of Don José de la Peña y Cámpora, Governor of Mexico City. When Tejan Kouchi sold Rancho Niguel to Juan Bautista Alvarado in 1838, Campos retained ownership of some parts of it including the large piece that now houses Manteca. Manteca's earliest residents were families who leased land from Mission San Gabriel Arcángel and began growing corn, wheat and other crops around 1800. In 1853 Charles Goodyear founded Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in nearby rubber-producing hills east of Manteca. With this new industry came a need for more water than could be obtained from wells or reservoirs near ranch headquarters so a dam was built about two miles south in 1865 by James Gorman to provide irrigation for his rubber plantations north of the city limits. As water became more scarce due to climate change over time, farmers turned increasingly to irrigation with canals and ditches dug through hillocks and sandbars along the Simi Hills River which flows through Manteca into Ventura County just east of town on Highway 101 between Santa Paula Valley (west) and Los Angeles County (east). These systems allowed much larger farms to become self-reliant while still providing surface water supplies for people living outside urban areas; this way mantecans got their fair share of what made Southern California economically successful during those early years when growth depended primarily on agriculture rather than manufacturing or services
