In 1951, President Dwight Eisenhower presented a gift to the city from Congress which included land for a new municipal library and park system. Manteca, California is a town in San Joaquin County, California, United States. The population was 8,824 at the 2010 census. Manteca is located on the banks of the Sacramento River. The site of Manteca was chosen by Mexican traders for its fertile soil and good water quality. The first Europeans to visit Manteca were Rancho Diablo de la Plataados Mission Indians in 1827. In 1847, Captain John Sutter discovered and named the Sacramento River after his native Venice, Italy (then part of Austria). In 1848–49 Antonio López y Bocanegra surveyed and claimed part of Rancho San Pablo for Mexico; it became rancho de las Trampas Partido in 1853. In 1856, Jotham Richardson built a small adobe house near what is now downtown Manteca while working as an assistant surveyor for George Hearst’s Gold Rush syndicate. Richardson soon become involved with politics and business in Manteca and quickly rose through the ranks of local society. He married Lucilla Detweiler in 1861 and they raised two children: Augustus Earle Richardson (1866-1941) and Maynard Earle Richardson (1868-1946). They also acquired several parcels of land where they built their own homes around 1870-71 including present day Canandaigua Street between First Street eastward from Depot Road northwest to Indianola Creek Parkway northeast corner which still remains today one of their most important properties along that stretch of roadway In 1865 Richardson purchased about five acres north of present day Canandaigua Street from Zechariah Chafee & Sons for $200USD After years of hard work on his new ranch he decided to move his family into what would eventually become downtown Mendota Heights circa 1880 when he remodeled some originaladobe buildings on this property into what we know as the Richardsons House Museum today From that date until 1886 when they moved out again because there was no room left on their old home – all evidence points to them living long enough to see downtown Mendota Heights grow up around them It should be noted that many early Downtown Mendota Heights residents may have been born or raised just south or east of where we stand today at 5th Avenue NW between Oregon Avenue NW & I streets NE

During World War II, Manteca played an important role in the war effort through its production of munitions; many local residents enlisted in military service or provided their services voluntarily. The city also erected numerous factories associated with various wartime industries including shipbuilding, aircraft manufacturing, ammunition production, printing presses, gasoline refineries and other industrial enterprises. During peacetime, much of these activity ceased but some resumed after the end of World War II; for example, shipbuilding restarted after being dormant for several decades following 1945 hostilities ended. Manteca experienced rapid growth during the 1960s when millions of dollars were invested in renovating downtown streetscapes and creating new civic amenities such as parks/resorts/mosques/etc.; this included construction of two high-rise apartment buildings that remain among Central California's most notable landmarks today—the former First National Bank Building (#2) at Seventh Street and Bushnell Avenue (now occupied by Discovery Place mall) & The Masonic Temple at Eighth Street & Bushnell Avenue (now used by Wexford Hall).
