Manteca was incorporated as a town in 1907. It became an unincorporated community in 1924. Manteca has been home to many notable people over the years including actors Robert Mitchum and Denzel Washington and business magnate Carl Icahn. The city also played host to the first international Formula One race in 1967 and will be hosting the event again this year.
