The first U.S. military forces arrived in Mexico City in 1847 and were known as the Mexican War Department. America’s first casualties came during this conflict when more than 1,500 Americans died and many more were wounded. The Mexican-American War was fought from 1861 to 1865 primarily between American soldiers and Native American warriors. In 1868, General Antonio López de Santa Anna became president of Mexico after winning a national election held under suspicious conditions that included fraud and bribery. Santa Anna withdrew the United States from the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) which increased economic competition between America and Mexico. In 1872, President Ulysses S Grant formed the Commission on West Coast Defense which recommended that California be annexed by the United States as part of a larger plan to secure Western border security against possible aggression from Mexico and Confederate East Texas. The annexation proposal failed to receive enough support from Congress but it did achieve popular approval with some Mexicans supporting it while others saw it as an opportunity for American business interests to gain control of what was then a largely Spanish-speaking population. As part of its new mission, the United States Army purchased land adjacent to Martinez Municipal Airport for use as an artillery range during World War II; however, armament testing never took place because airfields were not available at that time. Martinez Municipal Airport remained an important airport until 1972 when its runway was closed due to changes in air traffic patterns due to freeway construction near Martinez proper; however, hangars remain extant today at both Lambert Field east of town along I-5 and Warner Robins AFB west of town on FM 727 (nowatum Way). This small airport served terrain greatly different than today’s urban area where most major airports are located today; however, it is still one of Martinez’s busiest aviation destinations providing access to numerous airlines including US Airways Express Airlines service into San Francisco International Airport through Terminal 3D/4E which opened in 1978).

The Martinez army gift history goes back to the late 1800s when a group of American soldiers from California came to live in Martinez. They started a small military detachment and began buying land in present day Martinez. The first fort was built in 1892 and it was called Fort San Antonio. The next year, the army detachment moved its operations to what is now known as Camp Carson which was located on the east side of town. In 1896, the army detachment became an official unit and began using the name of Infantry Regiment 10th Calvary. In 1912, they were redesignated as 2nd Battalion 4th Infantry Regiment California Volunteers and continued using that name until World War II when they were again redesignated as 1st Battalion 4th Infantry Regiment California National Guardsmen. Since then, there have been multiple battalion sizes with only one current battalion size.
Martinez, California is a town in Kern County, California. The population was 24,491 at the 2010 census. It is the most populous incorporated place in Kern County and one of the fastest-growing communities in the state. Martinez is located on the banks of the San Joaquin River and is bordered by Stockton to its east, Bakersfield to its south, Visalia to its west and Merced to its north. The first European settler in Martinez was José Gabriel Martinez who arrived on December 7, 1847 from Cerro Gordo Parish in Argentina. The town was platted on November 14, 1850 by citizens of San Bernardino Valley. In 1857 it became part of Mexico when that country gained independence from Spain. When Californios regained their right to vote following Mexican Revolution they elected José Gomez as mayor and appointed him head of local government with power over irrigation, education and other public services. In 1871 Martinez annexed parts of Stockton so that both towns would have an equal amount of people (the annexation did not happen until 1907). A post office called Martinez was established in 1865 but closed due to lack of mail service from Bakersfield. The first store opened at 5th & Mission Streets in 1870 and continued operation until 1923 when it moved across 3rd Street into what is now known as Plaza de Armas square after being purchased for $1 by the city government for use as a public marketplace In 1893 Charles Wickersham donated land east off 4th Street which became downtown Martinez The community experienced rapid growth during World War II with an abundance of munitions manufacturing plants associated with military production throughout much of northern California including nearby Livermore National Laboratory . After war ended there were significant declines in industry although new housing began popping up throughout downtown during this time period As development slowed during the early 21st century many businesses such as bookstores consolidated or relocated while others closed altogether while poverty increased around downtown primarily due to low wages within tech companies which had succeeded afterWorldWarII

In 1850, Martinez became part of the newly formed Mexican state of Alta California. In 1853, after several skirmishes with American settlers over grazing rights on Rancho Niguel near present-day Pasadena, Mexico ceded that ranch to the United States as part of boundary changes following the admission of California into the United States. The US government also acquired other land around Martinez for military purposes during this time period. The first settlements in what is now Martinez were made at milepost 104 on U.S. Highway 95 (now Cahuenga Boulevard) in 1857 by Father Francisco Sanchez and his men from Mission Dolores de Jesús; these men built a small log cabin known as San Francisco de Nuestra Señora del Rosario which served as their headquarters until1859 when they abandoned it due to cholera pandemic influences which had then spread throughout central America and Northern Mexico
