Army units also participated inOperation Neptune Spear , which was conducted between September 1944 and January 1945 across six Pacific battlefields - Burma/Myanmar (Burma), Okinawa Prefecture ( Ryukyu Islands ), Thailand (Thailand), Malaysia (Malaya), Indonesia(Java),and New Guinea(New Britain). It served in France and Belgium before being demobilized in 1919. The battalion re-organized in 1921 as the 2nd Battalion, California Infantry and served in the California National Guard until 1936 when it was redesignated as the 3rd Battalion, California Infantry. In 1937, it became the 4th Battalion, California Infantry and served in World War II with distinction until its activation in 1943 as part of Army Forces Europe. The battalion redeployed to United States after V-E Day and fought throughout World War II until 1946 when it returned to state control underArmy Reserve Command status. Marysville, California is a small town in the East Bay Area of San Francisco. It is known for its farming and ranching traditions, as well as its history as a center of early California culture. The name "Marysville" was given to the community by General James K. Polk in 1849, when he visited the area with his family on their way from Missouri to become President of the United States. The first residents of Marysville were farmers who grew crops and raised livestock. They built their homes around an old fortuitous location on the banks of the Sacramento River. The first school in Marysville was founded in 1851 by Reverend Wm. Hoey and Dr. Pemberton, both natives of Great Britain who had come to America to explore new horizons and teach students English at Missionaries Obedience School before returning home to start their own families. There are two main reasons for this: One is because these countries were involved in World War 1 and II respectively; and two is because each country’s Armed Forces are different. For example, the United States Armed Forces are composed of about 2 million people whereas Great Britain’s Armed Forces have over 20 million people within them. Therefore, sending something unique or related to one country’s Armed Force is more likely to be accepted by that country’s Military than sending something related or unique from another country’s Armed Force.

Marysville was founded in 1853 by George Westfall and his wife, Sarah. The town was named for the Mount St Helens Range, which is located in what is now central Washington. In 1855, the town passed to California as part of the Mexican Cession. By 1861, Marysville had a population of 100 people and was incorporated as a city. The first post office opened in 1857 and the first mayor was Cyrus B. Hill. In 1863, Union soldiers burned down the town's courthouse while retreating from an engagement with Confederate forces. After the war, Marysville became a center for cotton production and saw heavy growth during the 1880s and 1890s when shipments of cotton increased tenfold due to new railways connecting it to ports on the Pacific Coast. The influx of workers led to social problems that were later addressed by city leaders including prohibition of alcohol in 1889 and creation of a public works program that funded various projects such as street repairs, schools, water systems, and hospitals. The towns of Marysville and Salinas were founded in 1846, while Marysville was the first incorporated village in California. The two towns thrived as agricultural communities during the Gold Rush days and developed into larger jurisdictions with their own governments by 1860. In 1872,Marysville annexed the town of Salinas, creating a second municipality with its own government. The annexation process continued until 1896 when both municipalities consolidated to form the current City of Marysville.
