The first post office was established at Marysville on March 12, 1850. The name change from "Marysville" to "Mosesvilla" because of its proximity to Mount Moses. The population grew rapidly during the 1850s due to new gold discoveries throughout California. Many farmers and ranchers started settling in the area around Marysville, cultivating crops and raising livestock. During this time period, local churches were founded including First Methodist Church (1851), Second Methodist Church (1852), PresbyterianChurch (1854), BaptistChurch (1856) and LutheranChurch (1858). In 1863, a smallpox epidemic hit the region and an untold number of people died; however, this event had no direct impact on Marysville's growth or development. In 1876–77, John Wesley Powell became interested in exploring America's interior through his Ulysses S Grant Expedition and visited MDVille while on his way upriver to explore Yosemite National Park. As he entered town via North Main Street he remarked about its largeUnion Pacific Railroad Depot which he had never seen before; this chance meeting would lead him eventually to discover America's highest peak - Mt Whitney! When Unification Treaty was signed between United States of America and Mexican Empire on February 14th 1881 Mineral County finally become part of American West with new boundaries defined by mountains instead of rivers like it had been under Spanish rule for centuries! Many businesses opened during these years such as Hardware Store & Brewery(opened 1884), Graphene Mine(opened 1886), Saw Mill(opened 1889) etc.. With so much activity going on within the small community there wasn't enough space for growth outside of Main Street which led to several schools opening up along North Main Street such as Leland High School (opened 1909) and Overland School(opened 1912). Most notably though was Mrs Hill's grocery store which continued operations even after Great Depression caused by stock market crash that year-. Marysville soon became known for its fine wines made from grapes grown just below its borders by entrepreneurs like Willard Richards who ran Richards Vineyards since 1915 until his death in 2006; other wine producers active during this time include Bob Redford whose winery sits atop Mt Shasta today; Charlie Stover who built Stevens Vineyards adjacent to downtown MarysVILLE between 1978-1981; Dick Cook whose tasting room is open every day from 9am-5pm inside/outside Harborside Golf Course.; Greg Fenton who cofounded Fenton Valley Winery near downtownMarysvillesouth side boundary today.. The late 1800’S also saw significant changes within city limits with numerous subdivisions being created along North Main Street all leading back into what is now known as Downtown or Old Town Blocks 1-4 inclusive: Benson Addition/Old Town Blocks 5-8 eastward beyond First Avenue northward including lot #2 opposite Post Office building blocks 2A&2B adjoined thence forming a continuous block bounded by First Avenue South & Union Pacific Railroad tracks eastward bisecting said block line midway between saidFirst Avenue South & blocks 1A&1B . This subdivision system served not only as an educational tool for future generations but also allowed developers more control over land use within their neighborhoods thereby resulting in increased property values around Downtown meterski ng districts Gaylord Perryman Jr., vice president real estateassociatedwithdeveloper Perryman Enterprises Incorporated .
