Airforce Association of Maywood, California was founded in 1947. The organization has been performing its mission to support the Air Force through fundraising and charitable work since then. In addition, the association provides a venue for event galas, networking opportunities, and educational programs for members and their families. One of the more significant events within the annals of Airforce Association of Maywood is its affiliation with World War II Memorial Day in 1957. At that time, AFMC formed an alliance with other military organizations across North America to celebrate Veterans Day as one unified entity. This collaboration would continue until 1988 when AFMC severed ties with some member units in order to create a more centralized organization structure. The following year saw another milestone within the history of AFBMC when it became an affiliate organization of International Women’s Year (IWY). IWY is celebrated annually on April 6th as a day to commemorate female achievements throughout history. That same year saw AFBMC become fully chartered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization underthe guidance of board president Beverly Shaffer-Wilson and executive director Barbara DeLoria. In recent years, AFBMC has worked diligently towards increased membership awareness and engagement within its community via several initiatives including but not limited to: social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube; online petitions; letter writing campaigns; public relations blitzes; and even a “Gift Drive” campaign which solicited donations from local businesses in order to purchase gift cards for members or staff at local restaurants!

Maywood is a small town in Kern County, California, located on the eastern edge of the Mojave Desert. The population was 4,878 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Bernardino–Ontario–Murphy Micropolitan Statistical Area. Maywood was founded in 1887 by John Cranch and his wife Eliza Mayfield Gossett Cranch as a transient settlement on Rancho Niguel 3 miles (5 km) east of present-day Chino Hills. The name may be derived from "majesty" or "power." A post office was established at Maywood on December 10, 1887, and remained in operation until it burned down in 1915. In 1907, J.C.'s son George Prentice becamemaywood's first justice of peace; he also served as mayor for one term from 1911 to 1913. The post office closed March 15, 1916 because of an earthquake that struck near Madera and destroyed most of downtown Maywood. George Prentice reopened the post office January 1, 1917 with mail service provided by stagecoaches from Chino Hills to Madera daily. However, this service was discontinued after World War I when all trains stopped running due to prohibitionism; railroad tracks crossed the town border just south of where the old post office sat today. In 1935, City Councilwoman Alma Flores moved her home from chaparral land east of town to purchase property west of Route 66 where she built what is now known as Flores Park which includes a playground and basketball court among other amenities for local children living in poverty during that era outside Los Angeles County jurisdiction
The USAF has a long and rich history of gifting aviation-related items and equipment to other countries. Gifts have been given in many different ways, including donations of aircraft, parts or engines, airfields or training facilities, or even just money. One of the earliest gifts from the USAF was a Boeing 707 bomber receiver that was donated to the Egyptian Air Force in 1954. The plane was used to ferry passengers and cargo between Cairo and Alexandria. In 1984, the USAF gifted an F-15 Eagle fighter jet to the Nicaraguan Air Force in memory of former AF Chief General James Mattis. Since its establishment as an independent branch of the military on September 12th 1947, the USAF has contributed plenty of unique items and technology to other countries. Items include: an A-10 Thunderbolt II Warthog attack helicopter; two KC-135 Stratotankers; three E-4B Sentries airborne early warning aircraft; four C-5 Galaxy transports; three KC-46A Pegasus aerial refueling tankers; twenty F/A18E Hornets jets; seven B2 Spirit bombers; six Paveway IV bombsight trainers
In 1957, the USAF announced that it was establishing a gift program for members of its military service. The first gift was a Spitfire F-104G/D Interceptor aircraft. The USAF began accepting donations of surplus military equipment from member organizations in 1958. In 1969, the program became known as the Air Force Forces Exchange Program and expanded to include gifts of personnel and material to other militaries. In 1984, the program became an official branch of the US federal government with the name United States Military Gift Program.
Maywood is a small town in Kern County, California, located on the banks of the Feather River. The population was 1,569 at the 2010 census. It was once one of the most important cotton and rice growing towns in California. The town began as a stagecoach stop on the trail between Banning and Visalia. The first post office was established in 1853. Maywood grew rapidly due to its location along the river and its natural resources: cotton, rice, lumber, alfalfa, honeycomb bees and other pollinators. The town's prosperity came from its ability to ship goods by boat upriver to San Francisco or Sacramento. In 1892, Maywood became part of what would become Kern County when it was organized from parts of Orange County and Riverside County. By 1905 it had outgrown its original boundaries beyond those defined by the river; however, it continued to grow as a result of trade with surrounding rural communities such as Menifee and Chico. In 1916 Maywood hosted what is now known as "the Cotton States Fair", which brought together farmers from all over America for exhibitions of their crops and livestock. As more people moved into Maywood during the 1960s and 1970s, crime rates increased; however, this has been gradually reversed over time with new development projects providing jobs for local residents. Today's community is home to many businesses including two hospitals (Grandview Medical Center & Kaiser Permanente Medical Center), several schools (Maywood Elementary School & John F Kennedy Middle School), an ice rink/skating rink/golf course (Maywoods Ice Rink), a library (Kern Valley Library), numerous restaurants (including Red Lobster®, Dominos®, Applebee's®, Jamba Juice®), plusHollywood Boulevard which runs through downtown; making it one of the most vibrant communities in Kern County!
Maywood was founded in 1853 by Anna May Caldwell and her husband, Isaac. The town was named after Anna's maternal great-grandfather, Maynard Caldwell. In 1875, the town incorporated as a city.
