In 1946, a group of businessmen bought the abandoned SMucker Coffee and Tea building on North Main Street in Maywood for $2 million and reopened it as Roasters Roasting Corporation (RROC). RROC became one of the most well-known roasters in America, producing many of the world's most popular coffees such as Starbucks' Java Blend, Dunkin' Donuts' Cold Brewed Coffee and Peet's Vintage Coffees. Maywood is a city in Los Angeles County, California. The population was 103,907 at the 2010 census. It is located on the central business district of Downtown Los Angeles and is bordered by Pasadena to the east andwest, Vernon to the north and west, and Glendale to the south. Maywood was founded in 1871 as an agricultural community along what is now Hollywood Boulevard. The name came from a grove of trees near Maywood Avenue. The city's first post office opened in 1872. In 1907, it merged with nearby Baldwin Park to form a single municipality. The consolidation led to increased taxes for both cities, which helped make Maywood one of Los Angeles' most expensive communities to live in during its early years. By 1925, however, tax rates had fallen so low that Maywood became self-sufficient; it did not join any other municipalities until 1959 when it again amalgamated with Baldwin Park. During World War II, many Chevys were produced in Maywood by Ford Motor Company's Willowbrook Assembly Plant; after the war ended production ceased but may still be seen around town today as antique or classic cars are available for sale at auctions held every few months since 1978

Maywood, California is a city in San Bernardino County, California, United States. The population was 30,815 at the 2010 census. It is located on the east side of San Bernardino and is part of the Riverside-San Bernardino metropolitan area. The first known permanent settler in what is now Maywood was Giovanni da Campo who arrived in 1769. A year later, Juan Crespí established Rancho Coyote Flatán de las Pulgas near present day Maywood. In 1876, John Wesley Powell attempted to cross the Colorado River from Utah into Arizona through Maywood and founded Rocky Mountain National Park here. In 1912, local citizens voted to annex portions of unincorporated areas of Riverside County that lay south of where Maywood sits today (the annexation included areas including Downey and Jurupa). In 1916, Maywood became one of the cities in Los Angeles County when it was combined with nearby Westchester as part of an effort to increase density along Santa Monica Boulevard. The growth around downtown resulted in increased traffic congestion on Santa Monica Boulevard and elsewhere throughout Los Angeles County during this time; starting in the late 1960s a movement sprang up to improve transportation options within the city limits by constructing new freeways or bypassing downtown entirely via streets such as Ventura Boulevard or Lankershim Boulevard. In response, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa began plans for a major north-south arterial freeway connecting Downtown with Van Nuys Airport – which would have relieved much of the traffic pressure on Santa Monica Boulevard but has not been implemented yet
Maywood was founded in 1868 by George and Anna Mayberry. The town was named for Anna Mayberry’s mother, who had died in 1869. The original home of the Mayberries, located on present day State Route 105 north of the town, still stands today. In 1870, George Mayberry opened a store and post office in what is now the old Mayberry School District building. In 1872, he built a new home on Second Street in what is now the town square. The following year, he added a hotel to his business empire. In 1895, Anna Mayberry passed away and her husband moved their remaining assets from their original home to the new mayberry-mayflower Hotel which still stands today. In 1916, George Mayberry married Edna Farnsworth and they moved into their current home at 711 Waverly Road in what is now known as Mrs. Farnsworth’s house. They continued to live there until his death in 1936. During World War II, many residents of Maywood enlisted in the military or served as volunteers with local companies during the war effort. Some of these individuals are listed below: George Moulton (1915-1993), who served honorably as an American soldier during World War II; Anna Mayo (1868-1966), who also served honorably during that time; Edna Farnsworth (1916-2006), who volunteered with locals Companies A & C; Harry Nolen (1920-1987), who served honorably with company G; Doris Kappler (1924-)who worked at Mrs. Farnsworth’s house while attending college; Albert Rubenstein (1920-)who worked at P Feiffer’s grocery store before enlisting in 1942
