As an artisan coffee farmer in Mcfarland, California for over 30 years, I have had the privilege of tasting some of the world's most accomplished coffee roasters. The history and culture of coffee is deeply personal to me, and I have been able to learn a great deal about it from these roasters. The first espresso machine was built in 1886 by Angelo Bisconti in Italy. Coffee began being brewed on farms near Rome in the mid-19th century. In 1875, Dutchman Hendrik Jan van der Velde started selling beans at his stall on Amsterdam’s Noordhoffstraat. By 1912, almost all coffee beans were roasted by hand. In 1928, Harry Roach opened his first café in San Francisco’s Financial District. Roach was one of the early pioneers of modern cafe culture and pioneered a new way to serve coffee – with cups that could be shared between customers. At this point, cafes were mainly places where people met for morning tea or afternoon snacks. Over time, different cafes became hotspots for different types of people – such as jazz clubs and gay bars – which led to more variety in the cupography of espresso machines across the globe. In 1963, Italian inventor Angelo Bisconti invented what would become known as an espresso machine – he designed it so that you could use ground coffee instead of water to make your own drinks (this was called "bottega" espresso). In 1976, Swiss manufacturer Swatch created their very first automatic espresso maker (the Elettronico). This machine allowed users to choose different strength levels and widths of crema before making each drink - giving birth to today's popular "shot" style espresso beverages like Latte Macchiato and cappuccino etc.) throughout much of Europe (and even into North America). From manual machines like those used by Van de Velde/Jan van der Velde through automated ones like those used by Swatch/Elettronico/Swiss Made etc., every kind of machine has its own unique flavor profile which makes them all truly special: each one brings its own personality back to our daily experience when we indulge in an exquisite cupcake or latte!

Artisan coffee refers to cafes or restaurants that roast their own beans instead of purchasing them in bulk from a large company. This process often takes more time and care because the roasting is done on premises with small batches. As a result, the flavor and quality of these cups are much higher than those bought at the grocery store. There are many types of artisan coffee, but two main types are full-bodied and smooth. Full-bodied artisan coffees have a heavier flavor profile and can be up to 8% ABV. Smoothartisan coffees tend to be smaller in volume but have a softer flavor profile that is around 2% ABV or less. Mcfarland, California is home to the first artisan coffee roaster in the United States. The McFarland Coffee Roasters was founded by John and Karen McFarlane in 1992. The McFarlane family has been roasting quality coffee since 1978. They currently roast a variety of beans including Ethiopian, Guatemalan, Colombian, and Indonesian coffees.

Mcfarland is a small town located in Kern County, California, about 30 miles south of Bakersfield. The population was 2,592 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Kernsville-Bakersfield metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1887 by James H. McFarland and his brother John W. McFarland on Rancho Niguel (now Tejon Ranch) near modern day Johnson Valley. The first post office was established in 1888 and the first store opened in 1889. In 1908, a railroad line was built through the town and it began to grow rapidly; by 1914, it had a population of 1,500 people. By 1929, the population had grown to 4,000 people and by 1945 it had reached 10,000 people. In 1957 the town became an incorporated municipality with its own government and school district; today it has an estimated population of 14 residents who live outside of Mcfarland proper but rely on its services including grocery stores, hospitals and other businesses for economic sustenance

These days you can find these types of coffees made by independent roasters all over the world; but one classic example remains popular in Europe: Robusto blend espresso originates from Italian beans that are hand roasted in small batches before being packaged for export to France. The donation was part of a larger effort to promote agriculture in the new territory and secure a stronger military presence. As time passed and more people arrived in the area, Mcfarland began developing his land into what is now known as one of Northern California's most prosperous communities. By 1907, he had added another thousand acres (300 hectares) to his holdings and became one of its leading philanthropists. Today, Mcfarland remains a small-town community with close-knit relationships between its residents and their local businesses and organizations.
